The Apartment is great, all frontswise. It won a bunch of oscars, and watching it is very worth it, in the shared opinion of me, the academy and milllions of other people, and Billy Wilder is 100% a hall of famer.

When you let the legend Billy Wilder produce, write and direct a movie, you get a masterpiece like this one. This movie can be seen both as a comedy or as a drama because Jack Lemmon's character is hilarious and Shirley MacLaine's character brings all the emotional complexity out of him.

Also a part of the writing that amazes me is that the antagonists (Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine's higher ups) manage to be so dislikable but hilarious at the same time, making it not annoying whenever they show up in any scene, and also making it actually desirable during the more dramatic second act, since they serve as comedic relief. That would be true except for one of the higher ups, wich would be Fred MacMurray's character; They made him drive the storyline with a well executed divorce plot that helps the main story wich is about Jack Lemmon's character growing and improving as person by falling in love and stop being a pushover, and Fred MacMurray's character is certainly the most evil of the higher ups, and the third most important character in the movie followed by Jack Kruschen's character.

I don't want to spoil the movie, so the best way to resume is to say that it's about the character James Cole(Bruce Willis) not being sure if he's a time traveller researching on a virus that in the future will kill 99% of the human race or if he's just a mental patient imagining all of these circumstances.

Nobody did a bad performance that took me out of the story, Bruce Willis and Madeleine Stowe did great, but my favourite part about the movie was Brad Pitt's character, he's just insane and hilarious to watch.

Everybody that wants to watch the movie will have to pay full attention to it in order to not get lost, because it gets truly confusing if you don't.

Overall a movie worth watching if you like mistery, Sci-Fi, gross and dystopian settings, and also action, because it's got some of that too.
