Literally we did not know what we were seeing. AMC screen unseen (only information you get is the rating and how long the movie is).
We were pleasantly surprised. Yes there were some missed opportunities but a good concept and some good elements. Loved Molly Gordon and John Reynolds was hilarious. I'm older (late 50s) but I enjoyed it but I do think this might work for the younger crowd more.
There were many moments that I thought it was going to turn into a horror film but never did but that's fine as I felt the characters were interesting and enjoyable to watch and it was fresh to have the what should've been expected not happen.

Just left the theater and I truly enjoyed and was not disappointed. The beginning had the feel of the original 28 and totally went in another direction towards the middle and definitely the end. I read that Boyle and Alex Garland have plans for a trilogy, with "The Bone Temple" being the second installment and the third film focusing on redemption. Loved the editing as well. Boyle also said how the film explores the idea that the virus doesn't create monsters, but rather dangerous versions of ourselves, and how humanity can still persevere. So I can see why some are disappointed but this is fresh and a different look. Also the fact that they used something like 20 iPhones simultaneously, along with drones, etc... to film 28 years, is amazing! Looking forward to seeing the next one.
