Im not a big fantastic four guy. I've never seen any of the other movies. But this one looked good, so I wanted to go see it. And gaw lee that was incredible. Here are the best and worst parts!
POSTIVES: It was just a moving film. It isn't dragged down by the lore of the other MCU movies, so it really gets its time to shine. The retro world has an absolutely amazing feel to it. Setting this in its own universe really helps it in my opinion. It also isn't really an origin. We've already had 2 orgins for these characters so I think that was a smart idea. All of the characters were very well down. Pedro Pascal does a pretty good job as Reed Richards, I just wish we got more of his stretch powers. Joseph Quinn got some amazing moments in this movie, and got to go further than his "dumb guy" cliché resulting in a very stasifying moment in the movie. The Thing deserved more screen time than what he got, but what we got of him was great. But the standout is Vanessa Kirby. She brings so much emotion and character to Sue. She really was a great fit. The story is pretty good. We got a lot more space adventure than I was expecting, which I throughly enjoyed. The space sequences really reminded me of Interstellar, which is always a win. Having the F4 be the only heros of their universe definitely added more stakes to the ending. And I love the desperate strategies they make to stop Galactuis. And the finale was amazing. There was a lot more emotion than normal finale's and the action was awsome. The nailed the Galactuis character design and voice. And the final way they stop galacticis is very staysfying. I like nothing is setup in this movie without great pay off. But the entire movie is worth it for the post credit scene. I started screaming. Overall much better than I thought it was going to be!
NEGATIVES: The beginning is really slow. It is important though, because it sets up everything that gets payed off later. The last hour definitely makes up for it though.
My expectations were blown out of the water. The sound design is BOOMING so I would definitely suggest a theater watch for this one. And you better stay for that post credit scene. It is really worth it!

"ITS CLOOBERIN' TIME!!!!"
Farewell!
Summer time is here! You know what that means. Finding some random chain of movies to watch of course! So after Final Reckoning, I decided this years summer benge should be a Tom Cruise benge. I am at least a month into it now, which brought me to my second Spielberg film in this journey. War of the World's was a good film in my opinion. Nothing to crazy special. So I expected this movie to be all in the same. But oh my! This film is INCREDIBLE. Here are the best and worst parts.
POSTIVES: I am glad to *report* that this film is in the *minority* of Cruise films. And by that I mean, it perfectly balances humor, action, VFX, concept, execution, acting, world building, and so much more. This movie would be nothing without its official concept. The Pre-Crime concept is phenomenal, and everything that comes along with it. The initial world building is beautifully well done. Speilberg does a great job of telling us what we need to know, with still giving us room for fun reveals (I'll get there). But a great concept is nothing without execution. And the execution is extraordinary. It brings a believable, lived in cyberpunk sci-fi world that makes sense in the Pre-Crime concept. But the person who makes a lot if this movie what is, is TOM CRUISE!!! He is a great cast for the lead. He has his charisma, but also leaves he feeling his brokenness. He shows raw emotion in the Crow scene, and really makes you feel for him. Story wise this movie excels! The foreshadowing, by showing the Ann Lively murder before the main conflict even arises is perfect. And the conflict is so well done. You know Tom Cruise wants to kill the man who killed his son, so it makes you feel like you have everything figured out. But you definitely do not. Because the twist in this thing is crazy. I didn't see it coming at all, because the paint it in such a different way. Colin Farell was a great antagonist for the first part. I can't say everything that made tgis movie so incredible so go watch it for yourself!
NEGATIVES: There's really nothing other than some dumb technology (eyeball removing). So why didn't it achieve 10 stars you are asking? Because 10/10 is reserved for cinema changing films, that there is never a question about it being the best. So 9.8/10 so not quite there yet. But maybe on a rewatch!
Go watch this movie for yourself. It really is worth it. Even if you aren't a Cruise fan, it has a great concept and story. And if you are a Cruise fan you'll have a blast like me. Im glad to have found a new addition to my top 10 list!
