Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

  • Spider-man 2 Spider-man back in black

Spider-Man 2: The action-packed sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man made the concrete jungle so aesthetically pleasing. With epic boss fights right from the comics with a bit of a twist along with 2 stories of 2 awesome characters put together in an ultimate and amazing experience. With super fun swinging mechanics. Uncontrollably epic.

This game platinum trophy was decent but once done the game gets pretty boring. All you do is swing and fight crime like a Spider-Mans' normal day but it does get boring. Though some Free DLCs have come like new game+ and some to come that add many more hours of fun.

    Secondary review:

    Memory updated Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Review: A Swinging Success

Marvel's Spider-Man 2, developed by Insomniac Games, lives up to the sky-high expectations set by its predecessor, delivering an action-packed, visually stunning, and emotionally driven experience. As someone who was incredibly hyped for this release, I can confidently say that the game not only met but, in many ways, exceeded my expectations, offering a thrilling continuation of the Spider-Man saga with some brilliant gameplay enhancements and unforgettable moments.

Dual Storylines: Peter and Miles Shine

One of the standout features of Spider-Man 2 is the dual storylines, allowing players to control both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. This dynamic injects a fresh layer of depth into the storytelling, and the interplay between the two Spider-Men feels natural, fluid, and rewarding. Both characters have unique abilities, and the game does a stellar job balancing their distinct styles. Peter's more experienced, gadget-heavy combat contrasts with Miles' bio-electric Venom powers, and switching between them keeps the game engaging.

The story itself is an emotional rollercoaster, blending heartfelt character development with high-octane superhero action. The relationship between Peter, Miles, and the supporting cast is carefully crafted, with the narrative pulling players in as the two heroes face personal dilemmas, larger-than-life villains, and the heavy burden of responsibility.

    Epic Boss Fights and Villains

The game brings iconic villains like Venom and Kraven the Hunter to life, with some thrilling boss fights that evoke classic comic book battles but with their own unique twist. The introduction of Venom is one of the game's high points, as his role is pivotal, injecting the story with dark, intense energy. Venom's design is menacing, and his fights are epic, offering some of the best moments in the game. Venom's narrative arc is not only a massive draw for long-time Spider-Man fans but also a powerful tool in adding emotional weight to Peter's story.

Kraven the Hunter, on the other hand, brings a different, more primal challenge. His quest to find worthy prey in the concrete jungle leads to some intense confrontations, and the accompanying theme music-epic and tribal-suits his character perfectly. Kraven's presence in New York City brings a sense of danger, and the encounters with him are both strategic and exhilarating. He feels like a true predator, always lurking, always ready to strike.

Swinging Mechanics: Super Fun but used to be repetitive but they fixed it

Spider-Man 2 takes the web-swinging mechanics to a whole new level, improving on what was already an incredible system in the previous games. The sense of speed and fluidity when swinging through New York City is nothing short of amazing. The city has never looked more alive, with detailed environments, vibrant colours, and a dynamic day-night cycle adding to the atmosphere. The action sequences, especially during boss fights and set pieces, are cinematic, making every battle feel larger than life. And some of the cinematic finishers are sublime. Who says Spider-Man doesn't kill???!!!

However, after completing the main story and grabbing that coveted platinum trophy, the game can start to feel a bit repetitive. While the open-world activities-such as stopping random crimes and helping citizens-are fun, they eventually become routine. After a while, swinging around the city and stopping petty crimes can feel like, well, just another day in the life of Spider-Man. That said, the Free DLC updates, including the anticipated New Game+ mode and additional story content, add replay value and give players more reasons to revisit the game.

DualSense Controller Integration: Immersive and Engaging

The integration of the DualSense controller is one of the most immersive aspects of the game. Insomniac has masterfully utilized the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to make every swing, punch, and Venom strike feel tactile. When web-swinging, you can feel the tension in the triggers as Spider-Man builds momentum, and the subtle vibrations match the rhythm of his movements. In combat, the haptics add a satisfying weight to every punch and gadget used, making even the most routine encounters feel impactful. This attention to detail elevates the gameplay experience, drawing players deeper into the world of Spider-Man.

    Aesthetic Beauty and Sound Design

Spider-Man 2's New York City is not just a backdrop-it's a character in itself. The city is beautifully designed, with stunning reflections, lighting effects, and bustling streets that make it feel alive. The improved ray-tracing adds a layer of visual fidelity that makes swinging through the city an absolute joy. Additionally, the game's soundtrack is well-crafted, with Kraven's theme standing out as particularly epic. It perfectly captures the predator-prey dynamic between Kraven and Spider-Man.

    Final Thoughts

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is an outstanding sequel that builds upon everything that made the original great while introducing new features, enhanced mechanics, and a compelling dual storyline. Venom and Kraven are fantastic additions to the rogues' gallery, and their confrontations with both Peter and Miles are highlights of the game. While the open-world elements can become repetitive after completing the main content, the game's strengths epic boss fights, stunning visuals, and DualSense integration make it an absolutely pretty good game but not a must-have at all for any PlayStation 5 owner.

Insomniac has delivered another winner with Spider-Man 2, a game that captures the essence of what it means to be Spider-Man, offering both heart and action in equal measure. If you're a fan of the franchise, this game is an essential experience, and with more DLCs on the way, it promises even more fun to come.

9.4/10 My one of my top games and one of my most hyped for games. By far best Marvel game and even a superhero game of all time.

  • Astro Bot The game for all

    10/10 Astro Bot Review

Astro Bot: Fun, cute, vibrant, and nostalgic. This adorable bot punched his way into my life. The game wasn't necessarily hard, aside from the challenge levels. The final one, in particular, was really difficult, but the sense of accomplishment when you complete them is fulfilling. Along with one of the most repetitive yet splendid playlists, this game stands out.

Astro Bot is extremely vibrant, though at times, it feels too bright. Since it's a simple G-rated game, there are no options for sound or brightness settings, which sometimes hurt my eyes.

    My Secondary Review

    Astro Bot 2024 Review

Astro Bot 2024 is a delightful return to form for Team Asobi, delivering an exceptional platforming experience that blends vibrant visuals, innovative gameplay mechanics, and an unmistakable sense of nostalgia for PlayStation fans. This charming adventure expands on the foundation set by Astro's Playroom, with an even greater sense of wonder and creativity, cementing its place as one of the best platformers of the year. In the past years of my life, this is the only game that made me extremely joyous or at least happy throughout 90% of the whole game. The past few years of Playstation exclusives have been usually darker or gritty than others like Nintendo. But this game is just a Nintendo game mad by the amazing things PlayStation has that Nintendo doesn't.

    Gameplay and Design

Astro Bot continues to shine with its inventive level design and engaging mechanics. Each stage feels fresh, presenting players with new challenges and abilities to keep things interesting. For instance, Astro can transform into various forms, such as a jet-butt Bulldog or an indestructible ball, allowing for unique ways to tackle obstacles and find hidden collectibles. This creativity keeps players on their toes, encouraging exploration and puzzle-solving.

While the game isn't particularly difficult, it features some tricky challenges in later levels, particularly the challenge stages, which ramp up the difficulty considerably. These levels provide a welcome sense of accomplishment for players seeking tougher tests.

    Visuals and Atmosphere

Astro Bot's presentation is a standout feature, with its vibrant, almost overwhelmingly bright world. The game's cheerful and colourful design may feel a bit intense at times, but it perfectly matches the light-hearted tone of the game. Some players might find the lack of brightness settings an issue, especially if the vibrant colours strain their eyes during longer play sessions. However, this visual style adds to the overall charm, making it fun for players of all ages.

    DualSense Integration

One of Astro Bot's defining features is its seamless integration of the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The developers expertly utilized these features to enhance the gameplay experience, whether it's the tactile sensation of Astro's punches or the tension felt when using his thrusters. These small yet impactful details make the game more immersive, turning even simple actions into something engaging.

    Collectibles and Cameos

As you explore the game's 50+ levels, you'll come across a host of collectibles and Easter eggs. From hidden bots scattered across the universe to PlayStation cameos from iconic franchises, Astro Bot packs its world with nods to the brand's rich history. For completionists, the game offers plenty to do, and the collectibles add extra replay value. However, not all collectible elements are perfect. For example, the Lost Galaxy portals, which transport players to bonus levels, can disrupt the flow of normal levels by marking them as complete before you've had a chance to finish. This slightly detracts from the game's otherwise smooth pacing.

    Conclusion

Astro Bot 2024 is a stellar example of modern platforming done right. The game is a joy to play, with clever level design, creative abilities, and impeccable use of the PlayStation 5's hardware. It may not push the boundaries of difficulty, but it's packed with charm. Fans of platformers and PlayStation's legacy will find a lot to love. While some minor pacing issues and visual intensity might affect certain players, the overall experience is nothing short of delightful.

If you're a fan of platformers or just looking for a fun, heartwarming game that showcases the best of PlayStation, Astro Bot 2024 is a must-play. It's also a must-have if you own a PS5. Moreover, this game is a new competitor to Mario and his franchise, and Astro is increasingly becoming Sony's mascot, or at least it feels that way.
