Season 1 was not bad, decent plot and action, okay characters, not great acting.
Season 2 episode 1 is decent plot and action, unlikeable characters, and really, really terrible acting. Like really bad. It's like the actors are reciting lines they had just memorized. You can pretty much hear where the script says "pause to be cut off/interrupted" and it is so, so cringe. There's no feeling of dialogue, they're just reciting lines at each other. Reference the scene towards the end of the episode with the President talking about fInDinG PeTeR if you want to see what I mean.
The Night Action handler lady is also a very lamentable addition to the show, as she is very, very unlikeably written. Her character's premise is basically "I don't like the main character and I am right not to"? The actress has also so far had 1 facial expression through 10-15 minutes of screen time, and it's a perpetual scowl. Maybe there's some redemption for how unlikeable she is later in the season but I'm honestly not going to stick around to find out.
Disappointing.

I'm not an ex-SOF or ex-CIA or whatever so I can't comment on the believability of it. However, I am a doctor, and will say the conversations in the hospital attempting to speak "medical-ese" and throwing around medical jargon was incredibly cringe. Like bad enough that I was going to stop watching. An ER attending receiving the trauma and then doing the ORIF? Looking at a saggital x-ray of the c-spine and saying "there's a lot of swelling" when anybody in a trauma would have gotten a CT neck that would better show the swelling? A distal femur fracture treated with an antegrade nail? Just consult a resident or something, they would love the extra money and to edit a script.
For me it was watchable and fun, a little drawn out, but over not too bad. Very melodramatic, but the pay off was sudden, kinetic, and--in my opinion--justified the buildup. But if the military elements were as cringe to military people as the medical elements were to me...I kind of get why they would rate it low.
