I'm not always a huge fan of Tyler Perry's movies but with this one, he did a fantastic job. It was highly entertaining. He probably took some liberties with historical facts but so has HISTORY.
I enjoyed this movie. My father was a navy veteran and was treated very poorly as a Black man in the United States military.
Blacks who served in WW2 came home and were denied access to parts of the GI Bill while their White counterparts benefited from. This is America.
So for those who think Tyler Perry was "heavy handed" with the topic of racism, wake up.
I'm glad their stories are being told on screen, especially since there is a concerted effort to have Black history teaching, and many books removed from public school education in America.
The film does a fantastic job of showcasing the resilience, courage, and camaraderie of these remarkable women who played a vital role in World War II.
It's a powerful reminder of the importance of recognizing and celebrating the contributions of all individuals, regardless of race or gender.

I was not interested at all in watching yet another dating show but my younger brother watches it with his wife and convinced me to give it a try. I enjoyed the 3 episodes I caught so far. It's delightful and easy to watch.
I'm finding it aspirational. Most of the singles appear to live vibrant lives full of love already. Their self-esteem is intact and most are content, enjoying their lives right now. Open
Having a strong sense of self-worth and remaining open to attracting intimate love again is a wonderful thing.
Great job Michelle Obama and team!. I love that the haters face crack every time the Obamas rise.
Someone wrote in their review that they want to see people struggling. Like what?!?
If seeing people live well upsets you, consider some counseling. I enjoy seeing people happy, spending time with their loved ones and winning.
And I don't want to spend my time watching anything "average" especially "average Americans".

In 1865, with the ratification of the 13th Amendment, slavery was abolished in the United States. This story begins in the deep south, Mississippi, and then is brought up-to-date in Pittsburgh,1936.
This is 71 years after slavery officially ends. We know some enslaved people were kept unaware of their emancipation in parts of the south long after...hence Juneteenth.
A reviewer wrote that the dialogue feels forced. And they don't understand why the characters have to speak the way they do.
Given the historical context of slavery, where education was outlawed for them, and the limited educational opportunities for generations to follow. It's understandable that their dialogue might sound different from modern speech patterns or the King's English.
Black history needs to be taught in American public schools.
Excellent work fitting this play to the big screen. August Wilson, the playwright touches on so many themes here and I hope it encourages viewers to learn more about this period. Especially since there are concerted efforts to revise or eliminate Black history teaching in public schools.
I thoroughly enjoyed it especially the powerful scene at the end. We stand on the shoulders of giants!
