This marks the beginning of a great series of slashers, which was originally conceived as another installment of Resident Evil. And to be honest, when the game really reminds you in places that it was conceived as Resident Evil, you realize how ridiculous it is and how it wasn't mature enough to be considered a great slasher game to the core. The boss battles here are not as difficult as the battle with the camera, and the story itself is just a token addition that develops into segments that only make you cringe. But in terms of design and its unusual approach to gameplay at the time of its release, it was truly an outstanding work of art, but nowadays it looks radically outdated and unnecessary against the backdrop of the subsequent parts of the series, which showed in true form how Devil May Cry should feel in all its glory... And no, I'm not talking about the second installment (although we'll get to that).
This was my first Doom, which I played as a child. It has an oppressive atmosphere, conveying all the horror of chaos engulfing the Martian complex, where research was carried out that reached the point of pressing the emergency button, but it's too late ... Demons have crawled out of hell, and only YOU are able to stop this chaos with a huge set of weapons that you will have to find. But even here, not everything is so simple, because the game has covered a huge side of criticism in its address, namely the fans of this series. It is due to the fact that instead of a dynamic action, where the main character imagines himself as an unstoppable death machine for demons, we are presented with a moderate pace of what is happening, making a huge bet on fear. The main factor for us in the game is, first of all, survival, exploring all the dark corners of the complex to find ammunition and first aid kits, in order to barely survive another clash with demons jumping out at you from unexpected sides, only frightening with their presence. It is worth noting how technically the game produced incredible lighting and shadows for that time, which are further complemented by the soundtrack, made solely to give you goosebumps throughout the entire playthrough. Regardless of the fact that this Doom has changed its tone, it is still considered a good game, capable of conveying a strong emotional outburst of hopeless and desperate Doom.
We live in a world where the concept of "virtue" seems crazy, and there are reasons for that. Superman has plenty of these reasons, but that's his strongest part. Because no matter how much this world is ready to tear Superman to shreds with his good intentions, he will still remain a "Punkrocker". That's why my love for superheroes will never stop. And Superman reminds us in difficult times for everyone that each of us needs to remain a good person, and not look for reasons not to stop being one. There is still a hero in each of us, and this is not childish naivety, but rather a state of mind, thanks to which, even as an adult, it helps us to make a clearer path leading to a brighter future.
