Never before in film have I seen so much talent used so poorly. Viola Davis, usually top calibre, puts in a slightly lazy performance as an ass kicking war hero. Anthony Anderson, so capable in the Resident is reduced to a damsel in distress. The script was a baffling combination of 21st century buzzwords, AI, Deepfake, crypto, which means this film will have the shelf life of a packet of biscuits.
How this film was green lit is anyone's guess.
I have recently watched Head of State, and can't help but compare the two. Head of State isn't going to win any Oscar's, but at least it's fun. G20 takes itself entirely too seriously, its action sequences are predictable bordering on pedestrian.

Predictable straightforward film that's not trying to redefine the genre. John Cena is relentlessly likeable as an out of his depth actor turned politician. Idris Elba puts on a dependably robust performance the best actor in the film by miles but not taking himself too seriously. Priyanka Chopra didn't really add much beyond silly puns but I guess they wanted to try and add a bit of emotional depth to the piece to vary the pace. If you're looking for a light film to watch while playing with your phone on doing the ironing then look no further. It's big. It's brash. It's over the top. And I found it silly but deeply enjoyable.
What to say. Great casting and performances particularly by Bateman and Egerton.
It started off really strong. Well written and crisp. Tightly performed. The battle of wits between Egerton and Bateman was tense, edge of your seat stuff.
But increasingly clear in the latter stages that the writer had absolutely no idea how to end it, and the plot became increasingly baffling, unrealistic bordering on ludicrous. Characters were running round like headless chickens with increasing indifference to realism and believability.
I had expected a new die hard. What I experienced was the perfect between Christmas and new year movie. A period where time doesn't really exist, things are meaningless and almost immediately forgotten.
