This is quite a sentence to start with. I have a good reason though, as i had to drive 20 minutes to the theatre this time, but a storm and a flood caused me to take even longer to get home. Story for another time. Now for my thoughts on the film.
First off, i saw a review that described the movie as a total whiplash of feelings. And, its quite true. Sometimes i found myself enjoying the line "help yourself to a hand grenade." But then later on the hand grenade is symbolized as a weapon rather than a greeting of his. Plus a few shots that i will get into Next off, i knew wes was a really weird film maker going into this first time. This was my first REAL wes anderson movie(bottle rocket was a pretty normal film compared to this one), and while its very different from the usual, i overall had a pretty neat time. I liked some of the black and white shots depicted. And i especially love when some of the colors can look great paired together. I do love how when someone has books in their hand at one point, instead of zooming in on the books, wes just shows a slide of all front covers of the books. That got a slight giggle out of me.
Those pluses being said, some things were kind of hard to pick up on in the ending. Like if the whole ending negates the whole plot of this movie. Thankfully ever since coming home, im slowly picking up on what each of the different scene locations actually meant. I wont say here because spoilers kind of.
Quick warning for the younger audience watching this film. The very first scene can be quite a shocker compared to the rest of the film. Especially the first of the few deaths. The first scene is alone the reason voilence is set as "moderate" Anyways, overall a recommendable film, as long as you can feel fine with the first 5-10 minutes, and wanna watch something very different. Looking forward to whatever wes does next year!

I know people were SOOO excited to check in on the cast of season 4b. I also couldnt wait to see what sam could do to possibly redeem how he wrote some of the characters. But if you told me who was in charge of writing/directing this episode, i wouldnt have even thought about watching this episode early for even a milisecond. No offense to florence chappell, but hes def not cut out for any canon story driven episodes like this.
Yes, sam may have started his writing the same way, but it makes me think that nobody on the team actually cares about these characters that much.
The only character that got anything really good to do at lot, was loser, but there really couldve done something else good with anyone else. A lot of characters kind of just exist, and go through motions, and none have anything interesting to do.
Theres a scene that couldve been something, but its not the focus. It mostly feels like a short, but thats not a good thing for a canon episode. I wanted to make an actual video about my problems with this episode, but if the team isnt gonna try with these characters, then neither will I.
That being said, everytime they referenced the random montage from bfb 26, at the same speed each time, me and my entire family jumped for joy.
That being said, there were some things i really like in this episode, that being the animation, the loser segments, and the very ends with its many classic cliffhangers that we might actually see resolve
Overall, pretty fun for this shows previous standards, but man this writing is the most let down writing this show has had, 4/10.

Its funny how everyone thought tpot 15 would never be topped, but to be real, this feels like the better 15. Theres a really good message in this episode, that works off the message in the previous episode as well. Some arcs conclude, some progress, and some start up. Its all really well done, and i didnt hate any characters, even the silly bottle that i hated in tpot 12. Plus, it even somehow made everything that was a slight issue in tpot 16, WAY better written.
However, what i REALLY wanna talk about is this one 5 second shot that may be one of the best visual gags in the whole series. It's a shot where a character is doing a browser search on their phone, and while typing there are so many good visuals, followed immediately by drama videos thumbnails and a compilation video within the object show universe. Its so random to put in that much effort, but i love how this one shot turned out lmao.
Anyways, any critical person hating on bottle's humor is clearly forgetting the show's target audience. While being serious, the episode still is able to be a pretty fun time, which is the kind of thing my favorite movies/shows fall under. Great work overall, and heres to hoping we keep the back to back to backs going. Now, im gonna remind myself how far sam has come by watching post split.
