Donnie Darko is one of the best movies I've ever seen and even with its rating and with the amount of reviews it has I still think it is underrated. It should definitely be in the imdb top 250 at LEAST. But anyways, no matter how you choose to interpret it, whether you stick with the rules of the alternate universes, choose to believe that Donnie was schizophrenic, or take it as a metaphor for Jesus Christ, it's still gonna be quite the journey. All the characters are really well written, and the lore makes sense with no plot holes, and even if you don't get it at first it's still interesting to follow because it doesn't rely on something that makes no sense and is really hard to understand in order to be good. By the way, to people who haven't seen it: I highly suggest watching the director's cut. It makes it more understandable.
