"Delicious in Dungeon" is a fun little animated show with 24 new and exciting episodes about four unlikely companions from all walks of life exploring a vast and mysterious dungeon. It's fantastical and unique with its world building from our elf-half life-dwarf-tall man quartet, the wildly designed monsters we meet to the soothing "cooking mama" style dish montage we get every 20 minute segment. We meet so many characters, visit various terrains and encounter funny situations amidst silly, sharp humour and an unexpected undeniable chemistry and banter. The creators could have left it at that - slice of life at its delectablely sweet and finest. But, they also manage for us to deeply care about these goofy personalities with even some intense, mouth-open mic drop moments sprinkled in from time to time. "Dungeon Meshi" is an incredibly well thought out show with rich storytelling, likeable characters and genuine heart. What more can you ask for?
I might be completely biased here, but this is a really important documentary - to come out now, of all times. The WNBA hasn't had its due until now. And, everything, all the greatness, all time athletes, legacies that came before that, have a grave chance of being forgotten. "Taurasi" thoroughly and seamlessly explores the waves, ups and downs, nuanced playing career of the GOAT, Diana Taurasi, who has elevated the game of basketball in all levels and was the poster child of the league, when the WNBA was sadly just not ready for it. With a lot of sports documentary, we just get the highlights of an athletes life start to finish shown in a straightforward manner, but that's it. This doc is personal, heartfelt and real, not shying away from the messiness of things, and instead talks about these topics honestly - and that's all that you need. You could tell this doc was made with genuine love for its subject and understands the gravity of portraying and showing things right. For a lot of people, this is the first, full view of Taurasi, outside of the click-bait one-sided debates that simply don't know the history and relevance she represented and held up for so long. With this documentary, I hope this pushes people to appreciate those that came before and look into the games that were played in years past. To finally get the recognition and praise from a worldwide stage that financially and culturally society didn't support and only now has opened up. Now, with the attention, eyes and awareness, let's give Taurasi and many others who have transformed the game for generations to come, their much deserved flowers.
"Cobra Kai" pays respectful fanatic energy to the original 80s trilogy by re-framing Johnny Lawrence, the angry bully yet high school karate beast, to the forefront as our protagonist. We meet new and old faces as he rebuilds his forgotten dojo. It's deliciously fun and addictive with great martial arts sequences yet the main draw of this show - is its endearing and flawed characters whilst having an earned story. Everyone can connect with one person, and it's quite a crazy ride. You'll want to stick on for its 6th season run for a fist pumping full circle from point A to Z. A highly recommend this show for anyone to sit back, relax and have a good time.
