The Toxic Avenger (2023) has been one of my most anticipated films ever since its announcement back in 2018. While it isn't perfect, it far exceeds the usual low expectations that come with remakes. In fact, this version manages to capture the heart and soul of the original while also expanding its story and grounding it in new ways.

Peter Dinklage delivers one of the most enjoyable performances of his career as the titular Toxie a casting choice that initially had me skeptical. He brings unexpected depth and backstory to the character, something the original film didn't fully explore.

Director Macon Blair handles the remake with care and confidence, creating a film that feels worthy of standing alongside the originals. And of course, I can't help but hope that Uncle Lloyd is proud seeing something he helped build continue to evolve and thrive almost as if it has a life of its own.

Weapons may have just claimed the top spot as my favorite movie of the year a title previously held by Sinners. It's a hard movie to describe, but an easy one to get lost in. It's been a long time since I've been so wrapped up in a non-linear story that I completely lost track of time.

The film pulls you deep into its world and lets you live there. While it's a slow burn, it never drags thanks to its clever structure short, 15-minute segments told from different characters' perspectives that gradually weave together into one overarching story.

Weapons succeeds because of its stellar cast, sharp writing, a visionary director, and an undeniable passion for filmmaking. This is a must-see for horror fans it will absolutely leave you stunned.

Naked Gun 2025 surprised me in the best way possible. The most jarring (but thankfully temporary) disappointment was the absence of the iconic police car siren opening that kicked off every previous film in the franchise. But it's clear the movie chose to skip it to signal a shift: Liam Neeson's Frank Drebin Jr. Is grittier, more grounded, and very much his own take on the character-though still clearly inspired by Leslie Nielsen's timeless performance.

As far as legacy sequels go, Naked Gun 2025 stands out. It doesn't lean heavily on returning characters from the original trilogy, instead shifting focus to their kids. That choice makes the film feel surprisingly fresh and natural, instead of forced or overly nostalgic.

Now, look-I have no idea how Frank Drebin Jr. Could have been born in 1994 (given how Naked Gun 33 1/3 ended) and still be 73 years old in 2025, but hey, Liam Neeson's full commitment to the role makes me forgive the timeline shenanigans. Twice over.

And the chemistry between Neeson and Pamela Anderson? Honestly electric. It's no surprise they reportedly hit it off in real life-their comedic timing and ability to make each other laugh is clear on screen.

Naked Gun 2025 is a wildly entertaining return to the kind of wacky, idiotic humor that's been missing from modern comedies. Let's hope it kicks off a new wave of unapologetically silly films.
