Just like Horror, Action Movies and Anime are not genres I'd ever watch, With Love, Meghan (WLM) is something some people will never watch.
Having said that, although the lifestyle genre is not on top of the list of my watch preferences, I will take a peek at anything that I have peripheral interest in, that has a buzz around it. So I checked out WLM and found myself pleasantly and delightfully drawn in. I had to resist the urge to binge-watch, so I could slowly savour each episode.
The show is wholesome, soothing, beautifully shot/produced, peaceful to the spirit, soothing the soul, sparking inspiration, and will certainly lower stress levels. Oh, I enjoyed the music too; it gave me good vibes and had me swaying or tapping my fingers; check out Spotify for the playlist.
Many of the things featured in WLM will not be novel or groundbreaking (there is nothing new under the sun) to some people, but on the flip side, many people will learn new things, get tips on how to do things differently or be inspired to get back to passions they had put on the back burner.
I got to learn many things: new words, names of flowers, different ways of doing things and other tips.
I perceived Meghan to be kind, thoughtful, considerate, generous and humble; qualities not commonly demonstrated these days.
She is quirkily exceptional, with an aura that is irresistible and endearing to some and provoking or triggering to others who find it difficult to imagine that all these positive qualities can truly be embodied in one individual.
In spite of her privilege, I was charmed by her warm, graceful and calm mannerisms and very impressed by her calligraphy.
One can tell Meghan is in her element/wheelhouse as the episodes progress. Things that look complicated, appear to come easily to her and her passion and delight for the things she loves to do, shines through as she shares them with others. It's clear to see that cooking, gardening, flower arranging and hosting give her joy.
Negative reviews come across as expecting her to be perfect, while also holding her to standards not expected of others who have done or are doing the same thing. Then on top of that challenging / questioning her authenticity/relatability. Meghan doesn't come across as wanting to be perfect. She showed herself as wanting to share/teach what she knows, willing to be the student, happy to explore new things with others and not worried about making mistakes.
As a nearly sixty-year old, I feel like Meghan could be a daughter, younger sister or close friend I'd love to have. I would be delighted to meet her. On the whole WLM made me feel joyful, light and put an almost permanent smile on my face.
We also get a glimpse into the quaint, mountainous / ocean side region of Montecito; as an avid hiker, I got the urge to visit, experience and explore the region.
I would recommend watching it if you want an antidote to the chaos and stress out there in the world, or you want a burst of light, tranquility and joy wherever you are.
