This was a good movie. The characters were funny when needed and I love the dynamic between Clark and his parents they really felt like they walked right off the streets of Smallville with a camera crew following them around. As soon as they hit the screen I knew my wife would be crying by the end of the movie.
I would say though that this felt more like a WB Series that was moved to the big screen. Which is why I was a little let down by Supergirl.
As far as the soundtrack is concerned in comparison to previous iterations of Supes that were always emotionally charged and moving, this one fell flat. To this day, I listen to the Hans Zimmer soundtrack. It was so epic and larger than life. The music pulled me into the movie to the point where I can remember scenes purely from the soundtrack. I cannot say anything memorable about this soundtrack and that is surprising from a James Gunn movie. I did like Crypto a lot. As well as Lex. Over all, I have nothing negative to say about any character just felt like in comparison to what I've seen before; this felt like Superman's little brother wearing his clothes.

I feel like the only reason Denzel accepted this script is because it's a Spike Lee joint. I felt like the soundtrack was unused/left over music from one of Spikes unreleased films from the 90's. The cuts are messy. Not the worst film but I always debate my cousin about who has the better filmography Denzel or Will Smith...he finally has a poor film to use against me.
I enjoyed watching this movie, especially as a Floridian living overseas. It really gave me a taste of home with the scenery, slang, and cultural references that only a Floridian would understand. The audio quality is the weakest link in the movie; it feels especially obvious in the first five minutes of the movie when the kids are talking. Sounds like post production work was rushed or the scene was added last minute. The dialogue is pretty rough in a few scenes due to unnecessary pauses in conversation, as if the actors were attempting to remember their lines. The cadence of the conversations just didn't feel natural. This is pretty clear in the scene where Will is discussing his need for help while him and his cousin are sitting in the Haitian restaurant. Other than that, the movie is entertaining and deals with a scenario that happens more often than most people know. I like the camera work as well because it feels more like a documentary than a movie. As if you're just watching a conversation that is happening amongst your friends. I recommended just remember it is a small budget film.
