Nice to see people in somewhat advanced years enjoying life with friends and similar pursuits and being rather spry while doing it. Brosnan, Pryce and Mirren are their usual best and also nice to see Kingsley as a good guy after seeing him in a plethora of villainous roles. Some other familiar faces including one of the major villains from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Well paced and amusing. I had a wide grin from beginning to end. I did figure out one of the murders but the other was unexpected when solved. The place where they were living was spectacular. You'd be hard pressed to find an easier watch. Highly recommended.
Arthur C. Clark who said any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. This was a really bad episode. Besides getting that wrong with the exception of the Android, Wendy and a couple of others most of these characters are insufferable; starting with the child synthetics. Why are they even here. Wendy was enough and at least she acts more mature. Also the actors playing the brother and the rich dork are such weak looking men making them massively unappealing. Terrible casting. As I suspected we are already barely seeing the Aliens. At an hour and a half you'd think we'd get more than a three minute cooing session. I read an article the day before praising the show because we are no longer seeing the aliens on the corridors of a ship. No now we're just seeing them ( if they even appear ) in the corridors of a destroyed building. The show had a really strong start but it's declining rapidly weighed down by the ridiculous child synthetics and the brother who looks like he wants to cry in every other
scene he's in. The one good thing ( besides Olyphant) is how the story seems to be aligning with the reason the Nostromo was diverted in the first Alien movie. No matter which way it goes I'll be sticking with it but some questionable casting is making it quite a chore.
PS: so someone pointed out that it's the Kevalier character who made the Asimov mistake not the writers. Perhaps but do they really think many people watching this show are familiar with it? I seriously doubt it. I'm sticking with it being the writers mistake. After all they wrote this drivel episode so.......
