Finally after this season's ups and downs we are treated to proper science fiction! Okay so the story may have been done before, pilot crash lands on a strange planet with little hope of survival, but when done in a Trekkie way it seems original.
It's a striking episode with great effects, tension and proper science fiction! But at the heart of this episode is the hope that 2 arch enemies can become friends in their time of need.
It's a heartfelt episode with a heartwrenching twist at the end. Best of the season so far!

As a lifelong Alien fan I had my reservations. Especially given Scott would be involved. The. I learned about Hawley and I was intrigued. What he did with Fargo was truly amazing. So I have waited with bated breath for this series to finally come. As a big fan of the Dark Horse comics and novels, there always needed to be a chapter set on Earth.
Admittedly I'm only 1 episode down but will be reviewing again after watching the second. But I feel I have to review straight after the first episode as I feel like a giddy school kid!
The acting is perfect! Nothing cheesy here. Great mix of English, Irish and Americans all giving their best performances. Tim Olyphant already gives a show stopping performance. Ade Edmondon fits in perfectly even tho I had my doubts. (Huge Bottom fan also)
The young unknown leads I were worried about shone through and the characterisations are intriguing.
The introduction of Prodigy and the Kid are a welcome addition to the universe, taking the glory away from Weyland Yutani.
I love the way they don't try to teach us old tricks. Noah knows that the audience thus is aimed at will already know how the Alien lifecycle works and understand their hostility. And we are treated to loads of nostalgia with amazing set design, brilliant cinematography and futuristic technology in keeping with the original 2 films.
I'm very intrigued to see where they go with this and explore what the other organisms will do and how our naivety will lead to a lot of destruction!
