I V Sasi made many movies about bonding , liberation and independence of women in society at various levels . This is one such gem . The whole movie rests of Urvashi's tender shoulders. She is used abused handled manipulated from day one by various men around her . Jayaram a family friend takes a very young Urvashi to the city promising to enroll her in a good college . Her father readily agrees as she is a bright student . J has his own agenda. To further his career he takes her to his boss who violates her trust . She is not able to find Jayaram after this .

By the time she realises her situation she is neck deep in this trade .

She is given refuge by a madam .

From here starts her ordeals . She accepts her fate willingly .

All the nice good men she meets leave her for some or the other reason . Her father commits suicide when he hears about her pathetic state . Her school teacher Veteran Soman who has always encouraged her dies of old age .

Bala Chander who buys her from her madam for a huge amount and keeps her in a comfortable state dies of cancer .

He gives her all his property before dying . She loses his love child to Alex and his gang . He keeps pursuing her at various levels out of spite .

Her second lover Suresh proposes marriage . She happily accepts and starts shopping .

Sadly he goes back to his estranged but now repentant wife .

Alex is the main villain who messes up her life at every stage . Towards the end , Urvashi runs over Alex and his cronies without remorse Jayaram makes a fleeting appearance in the last scene as a journo coming to catch her story . Her entire life is an odyssey between good & bad men . Shot in lush Kerala cottages the back ground is soothing to the eyes .

Urvashi comes in simple sarees despite her dubious role . She looks young and innocent in every frame . Finely shot with fine songs.

Mohanlal and Venu are good friends . While Venu is a family domestic man , Mohanlal is a skirt chaser . He sees Ambika who is homely and from a low rung of society . She lives alone with her mother Nandita Bose . He chases her in his usual manner and manages to convince her that he loves her indeed.

Initially wary but believing his false promise of marriage she also gets intimate with him.

He beings to really like her . He takes her proposal to his father . Looking at her status, he refuses . Mohanlal gives in to his father .

Even Venu tries to make him understand but Mohanlal leaves the town without remorse.

A stunned & Shocked Ambika tries to reason with him . Sad and dejected she retreats back simpering. Her mother dies soon due to this .

Ambika gives birth to a son and starts working in a small company .

Her boss Balachandra tries to adjust a lot with her and her demanding timings with her toddler son . Shanti Krishna her collegue is also the cousin of Balachander . She is always up to pranks with him . She tries to set them both up .

Venu meanwhile gets married to Poornima - a soft homely girl . He is unable to consumate his marriage as he is tormented by his own sisters death . Mohanlal had a hand in that .

Confused and sad , Poornima patiently waits for him .

Mohanlal makes his appearance again in their lives. Poornima realises his intentions soon but is unable to stop Venu as they are both close friends even now .

In the end , Mohanlal manages to have his way with Poornima ( who gives in due to her own fragility ) . When Venu relises this, he fights with Mohanlal finally with all pent up frustrations .

Bala and Ambika unite thanx to Shanti's constant attempts .

Its a happy ending for both the couples with Mohanlal leaving them alone finally .

Both Ambika & Poornima are softly dressed in cotton sarees to show their domestic status .

Mohanlal has a leery lechery attitude each time he appears .

Bala is cute as a bumbling boss and a caring loving brother .

A tight knit family story . Prem Nasir leads a meagre existence with his loving wife Jayabharati and a toddler son . He is contended with his life . His sister elops with a rich man despite his cautionings .

Sadly he turns out to be a cheat and she becomes a club dancer soon .

JB gets waylaid by a visiting tradesman . PN leaves quietly without creating a fuss. For the sake of his son , he continues to work as normal .

Srividya meanwhile is a neighbor who is a young widow.

She also loses her father . She gets drawn to his son .
