I had high hopes with Christine Bermas and Angelica Hart starring in this film. But I hated the way Angelica Hart was used. She's a A-lister. But her role was like an extra used in rape scenes that were recurring flashback nightmares of Bermas' character. Angelica didn't even have any lines to deliver. Just lied on her back, cried, and suffered. I much prefer this genre when it's mostly sex positive roles. I understand there may be stories where the female characters are victims of rape/assualt or some level of coercion. But I don't want to watch it over and over in a film. And Angelica Hart deserves a much better role! She shines in so many of her other films! And I don't mean to take anything away from Christine's performance. She was solid as always.
I was excited to hear of the remake of El Hilo Rojo (The Red Thread). I really enjoyed the 2016 version starring Eugenia (China) Suarez and Benjamin Vicuna. In fact, I watched it three or four times. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters - who have a brief chance meeting but get separated due to an airport customs snafu. They run into each other several years later - both now married - but the chemistry is still there. Apparently the chemistry between Eugenia and Benjamin was real -- they had a baby together after filming the movie!
So when VIX announced the remake, and I saw Carolina Miranda had the lead female role, I was very excited. Miranda did a great job in Quien Mato a Sara? (Who Killed Sara?) and Perfil Falso ( Fake Profile). She is not afraid to do steamy love scenes! She's great!
And I wasn't disappointed with the VIX production. Carolina Miranda and Michel Brown also showed great chemistry on the set. A bonus -- this production has English subtitles so I picked up a few things I missed in the original. As far as I'm concerned, Carolina Miranda is an A-lister among Mexican actresses. I hope she keeps making films.
There were two minor disappointments. Maya Zapata is a talented actress, but her part was a waste of talent. The character's role wasn't that different from what it was in the original, but I was hoping they would beef it up some to display her talent. Same can be said about Mario Moran's role.
The other minor disappointment was the main love scene between the two lead characters. They are in a hotel room in the daytime, with direct sunlight shining through the large window. The overly bright light makes the love scene unpleasent to watch. And a followup love scene was a distant shot - too distant to characterize intimacy and steaminess. The main love scene in the original with Eugenia and Benjamin was perfect.
All in all, I really enjoyed the film and I hope VIX keeps making films that are a cut above the everyday soap variety on network TV. Premium channels need to step it up if customers are going to pay a subscription fee.

This is soft erotic (AKA "sexy") genre. The title "Sponsor" refers to the practice of one person financially supporting another person in exchange for sexual favors -- most commonly a well-to-do older man sponsoring an attractive young female. The storyline here is a familiar one in Vivamax cinema: A family is struggling financially (medical bills and tuition) and two sisters seek ways to meet their family's needs.
Real-life sisters Angela Morena (Jasmine) and Micaella Raz (Elise) co-star as sisters in the family-in-need. Both give great performances (with a sometimes weak script). Van Allen Ong (Ares) plays a young man who pursues Jasmine, but she doesn't see him as providing financial security. Mon Coniado (Marcus) plays the main Sponsor in the film. Van Allen and Mon give solid performances. For those who enjoy beefcake, you will enjoy Van Allen's erotic scenes.
Krista Miller and Jem Milton give enthusiastic performances in supporting roles - as characters who get Jasmine and Elise involved with sponsors. Krista and Jem fit the bill perfectly.
The camera work, blocking, and lighting in the erotic scenes are done very well.
I offer no other details on the plot - avoiding spoilers.
Angela Morena has done over a dozen Vivamax films and 3 Vivamax series. It's impossible to get tired of watching her perform. She has a special presence on the screen.
Of the recent Vivamax movies produced, this is one of the better ones.
