I recently checked out Duane Edwards' drama/thriller "Wrong Numbers" on Tubi, and I must say I was quite impressed by the unique approach it took.
Most romantic thrillers follow the same formula (since the beginning of time), however, Wrong Numbers breaks that cycle and chooses its lane and stays in that lane during the film's duration.
As mentioned in the title of the review, it's a little "Harry Met Sally" with a touch of toxicity, which I feel blends perfectly with today's dating/relationship scene, as it's almost encouraged to be in a toxic relationship.
David and Emily both offer stellar performances and are the main reasons to stick around for the thrilling climax.
Highly recommend!

Liana Hassim's "El Regreso de La Llorona" is a fresh take on the La Llorona legend, a vengeful ghost from Mexican folklore that is said to wander near bodies of water.
The legend of La Llorona is often told to warn children to stay away from dangerous waterways, which, similar to other folktales, can truly be scarier than anything in "real life".
To be completely transparent, I assumed that El Regreso de La Llorona was another low-budget horror entry on Tubi, but was pleasantly surprised with the creative twist on the legend, and a fresh cast of up-and-comers.
The film has vibes of the 2006 film Turistas, in addition to callbacks to historically famous "Folk Horror" films.
Next time you're on Tubi, I highly recommend checking this one out!

Unfairly dismissed as a cheap tarrantino knock off upon release, this movie never got the attention it deserved. Energetic, stylish, great cast. A lot of fun. Aside from Jerry Mcquire Zwellweger has never been better. I hadn't seen it in probably 20 years and really enjoyed the rewatch.
