This action/adventure series reeks of good intentions, but suffers with an awful, meandering plot- like watching a slow motion train wreck. So, unless you have over 16 hours to kill and have a steak of masochism, skip it. The plot initially seems to have a touch of "Doom Patrol" in its blood, but with 4 action characters out to defeat the big bad criminal/corporate organization which is running amuck killing people as well as making money. This results in some wonderfully brutal action sequences. Beginning around the 5th episode or so, however, the plot gets stuck, in almost a "Perils of Pauline" formula: who might get "it" next, and how high can we make the body count to get there? Things don't straighten out until around the 14th episode, but by then, I no longer cared. All the actors and actresses do very fine jobs, with the main villain, a complete psychotic, stealing the show and being one of the best things about this train wreck. As for the ending, it left open the possibility of a sequel, but frankly, I would rather watch a show about rugalas: fighting Jewish pastry from Poland.
I watch a lot of Kdramas, comedies and adventure shows and this is one of the best I have seen. I also have a weakness for supernatural shows, period pieces and light romances, so if you like that mix, this one may also hit all your buttons. Most Korean 16 episode shows have weaknesses about 2/3rds of the way through, but this one kept up the pacing while ratcheting up the storyline. What's not to love about a type of lower level dragon in a human body who mouths off to a Joseon king? The leads were excellent and I felt had real chemistry, with Bona being more affecting than I remembered from other shows. Cha-Chung Hwa, a supporting member of the cast is someone I always like to see in these shows-the perfect mother worrywort type who just never gets mentioned despite her skills. Highly recommended.
If you are looking for a strong plot, deep characterization and meaningful concepts, skip this. But if you enjoy tons of fake gore and violence combined with lots of fighting action, this is some of the best 7 episodes you will likely find. The plot is held together by a relatively thin revenge theme followed by non-stop stabbing, punching and like mayhem with a little gunplay thrown in. How anyone can function with more holes in them than a role of Swiss cheese is beyond me, but not beyond those guys. They mostly do until it's their turn to get croaked. This isn't bad, mind you, as the choreographed mayhem is a blast. So turn it on, shut off your brain, and eat hearty. It's a banquet of silly violence.
