I don't know why this has been a failure. The scenario is pretty interesting, and almost as good as the original. Both the characters and most of the actors are convincing. Some of the friends have taken completely different course in their lives than others and this creates tension. Some people have chosen different partners than the love interests of their youth but feelings are always there. New persons are also good, (e.g. Maria Nafpliotou as Alexandra), including the young ones with Niki Vakali as Anna stealing the show - a true revelation. I don't know why certain people didn't like it. Perhaps because it was too realistic and somehow sad in the sense that it reminded us that we have grown older too.
