Movies are a huge part of my life. I spend a lot of my free time watching movies with my family. We watch around 400 movies a year, multiple series, and are always on the hunt for something new.

I like to read and rate/review movies on IMDB because this is where you get the most honesty in my opinion.

I think streaming has killed the movie industry. I don’t think it has anything to do with the prices people pay or the ease of enjoying movies from your home. It’s more about the money we give to these corporations and being handed back crap branded as “originals. They only make movies and series based on current trends and ideology and rarely take any risk. Statistically, Netflix, Amazon, HBO, etc. should be churning out hit after hit with the hundreds of programs they release. We all know this isn’t the case.

These streamers have devolved into an alternative form of cable TV. Low budget productions, shameless product placement, underpaid talent and cookie cutter stories that aren’t meant to offend seem to be where their money is. In that same time, they have cut off the rest of the movie industry at the waist. No one is buying DVDs anymore and no one is going to the theater to watch anything that isn’t a franchise or sequel…. Because we all spend 40-50 for a few of of these streamers a month!! For what? The same 30 popular titles getting bounced back and forth between the streaming platforms??? It’s a scam!

That’s why I have a DVD/Blu-Ray/VHS collection that is ever growing. Switch back to DVDs and cancel your Netflix subscription! This will save the movie industry!

Memes aside, this film had my son and I laughing the whole way through, as well as the rest of the audience. We love Minecraft and while we were slightly disappointed with the absence of some important elements from the game, we were very stoked that there were a few Easter eggs and honorable mentions within the movie that we weren't expecting.

I really liked the beginning of the film, I thought of Jason Mamoa's character to really be the centerpiece of the movie. Steve almost seems like he's just there to give the audience a tutorial. And a lot of quotes.... which have been stuck in our head for weeks now.

I actually quite liked the mix of real sets and props with the CGI. I think the trailers kind of lacked showing some of that side of the art direction... good blend in my opinion. The movie as a whole definitely felt like an adventure! Going to see it again next weekend. Yes it's that entertaining. Simple!

  • You wanted a rampage...

I understand where the hate stems from for this movie... but I liked it... a lot.

First let's talk about the musical aspect of the movie:

-the songs were kind of mid -not enough originality out of the music -melodyne on voices that should not require melodyne. I mean Lady Gaga can sing obviously but some moments it was very clearly pitch corrected and it took away from the rawness this film needed. Especially on Joaquin's voice. Which some of it was not pitch corrected obviously.

Aside from that I think the musical aspect is not out of place for what this story is about. Arthur failed at comedy in the previous movie, therefore he found another means in which to entertain others and more importantly, his self. He wanted the spotlight. The musical numbers do not feel forced, as most of the singing is coming from fantasy sequences, much like how he was fantasizing with Comedy in the first. That's all I'll say without spoiling.

Secondly, the court room drama aspect of the movie is fantastic. There's some really wonderful acting in these scenes, most notably from Puddles. Phoenix as well. I won't spoil too much but there are also some familiar faces in the courtroom that got me pretty excited...

I believe Joker 2019 was very deeply grim and sadistic. It's a great movie all in all, but I viewed Joker as a straight up villain. I had no sympathy for him. The sequel shames sensationalism. I think it's sad that a lot of people wrote this movie off because of social media telling them to. Obviously more people should watch and form their own opinion. It's a really solid movie, top tier performance by Phoenix. Folie a Deux gets a 8/10 from me.

  • My Favorite Bros are Back

I'm slightly biased because I'm a big fan of the series and all the people involved in the making of this...

I'll start by saying I'm slightly disappointed that this couldn't be an actual 4th season but the effort that went into this movie was appreciated. Tons of cameos and funny throughout the surprising runtime. I'm really hoping the hype for this franchise builds and builds because I really think they could continue bringing the laughs. The movie was shot super well and feels like a REAL comedy, as opposed to a lot of the Hollywood "comedies" that seem way too watered down/have agendas and checklists... I was a little disappointed some of my favorite characters (Aldis) didn't get a lot of screen time but I understand the movie needed to cut some fat.

It's actually weird, I think Jimmy Tatro has been involved in some of the funniest projects I've seen in the last 10 years. From 22 Jump Street to American Vandal and The Machine, this guy along with Christian Pierce have such an amazing lens when it comes to sketch comedy and now film. Even if Real Bros comes to an end, I can't wait to see what they have in mind down the road.

Bryce, Duncan and Wade are so so so funny in this series... Anything those guys say is funny. The girls in this movie are also bringing a lot of laughs and I just think overall this ensemble is the current funniest in entertainment right now. I can't think of any other ensembles who are bringing this much entertainment to the table right now. Please spread the good word of this movie to your friends, because it needs to be shared. Every time I watch Real Bros I start to riff and get silly like the characters and I feel like what Tatro and the cast do is contagious.

    9/10.
