I was initially worried that this prequel might turn out to be a disaster, but to my surprise, it exceeded my expectations-it's nearly perfect. Patrick Gibson delivers an outstanding performance, flawlessly capturing the subtle nuances and mannerisms that Michael C. Hall brought to the character. His portrayal feels natural and immersive, making it easy to see the transition between young and older Dexter. Christian Slater also delivers a solid performance, adding depth to his role.
The storytelling does justice to the 'origins' concept, providing a well-structured and engaging narrative that fits seamlessly into the Dexter universe. However, the cinematography could have been better-those cinematic shots of Miami felt somewhat 'laggy' to me, though perhaps that was an intentional choice to maintain consistency with the original series' aesthetic.
If I had one minor gripe, it would be that the last two episodes could have been extended to include more transition moments, such as glimpses of Deb joining the academy or Patrick's Dexter evolving further into Michael's version. But that's just a personal preference.
Overall, this prequel delivers a gripping plot, stellar performances, and near-perfect execution. It's a must-watch for any Dexter fan.

I was really looking forward to this one but honestly, it was a huge letdown for me. The direction felt all over the place, and I struggled to follow the story. I found myself confused more than once, which really took me out of the experience. The acting? Wow, it was some of the worst I've seen in a long time, So I ended it after 1 hour of torture.
And the cinematography? It was a mess. So many poorly framed shots left me feeling disconnected and frustrated. I was hoping for some visually striking moments, but instead, it felt lazy and uninspired. As a fan of the franchise, I can't help but feel disappointed.
For me, it's a solid 0 stars. Save your time and skip this one!
