At the time of writing this movie had a review score of 3.2/10. I don't think this is fair at all. Something tells me it might have been review bombed which might have in-turn made people give it a perfect score to compensate.
Speculation aside, I did have low expectations for this movie. Tamer's music is quite basic/shallow and it is not unreasonable to expect his movies to be the same. But a few unexpected things happened and I ended up watching it at the cinema with my partner (I did not want to watch it).
I was surprised. It was actually good. Tamer was calm, the jokes were very funny and the story had some depth. Of course it is not perfect, it is far far from perfect (some scenes were not funny but just bizarre, the visual effects were quite amateur, the moral lessons were not subtle and the makeup/airbrushing was extreme on many of the actors). But judging by the the kind of stuff that Egyptian cinema churns out today this is very good and I think Tamer should be proud. I am happy I went to see it.

This 'doco' contains some thrilling/horrific footage and that is about all it offers. The narration is probably what put me right off this thing. It is supposed to be done by a journalist who is meant to help us make sense of what is going on. Instead, he is cynical about everything without telling us why, sounding more and more like an amateur poet (very cringe). An un-illuminating and confusing production.
Mediocre dialogue and story, shallow philosophy, awkward acting (except for Nour) and awkward directing, does not provoke a second of thought, absolute garbage. Should not have been banned for its heresy but for being boring. Surely this is no masterpiece.
