This film is like watching paint dry...and the paint itself is drab and boring to begin with. I'll admit, I only got 28 minutes into this, twice as long as my first attempt. However, I have seen arouind 2,000 films and know when a film is a waste of time by now.

After 10 minutes I was bored, after 15 I was annoyed, after 20 I was looking up reviews to see if there was any substance to drain from this unremarkable stone. If I were to waste 2 more hours on this apparently a mopey, drawn out family drama about a kid and parents that split up would be in store for me. WHO CARES!? Not me, buddy! It's as if they took all the most boring scenes from a TV show where they just mope around and put them all into a film without any of the interesting bits that gives those moments context. No there are no spoilers because something would have to happen in the film to be spoiled.

If you are trying to induce a splitting headache then you should watch this film. The incessant high pitched whistling was delightful. I just love searing pain and irritating sounds while I'm watching a film as I'm sure many of us do.

The first 3 minutes were cool, then the agenda was forced in as soon as possible. There wasn't a decent character to be found. But we can't have intelligent or creative people around anymore can we Hollywood?

What a waste of potential. They even had the story written for them already. But a great writer wouldn't get hired these days. All the money in the world won't matter if you are rotting from the inside out as an industry and as individuals. Well, back to watching old films again!

The 9th Cronenberg film I've seen and the only one I struggled to make it 20 minutes in. The awful jazz "music" was a turnoff, as was the seediness and glorification of the overrated writer who inspired this. Go ahead and try it if you are a big Croney fan, definitely if you are a Burroughs fan due to already having a damaged brain, but otherwise steer clear. Don't say I didn't warn you!
