Can't lie I started this for Mathew Goode and Mathew Goode only Imao. Can't say l'm disappointed really. I was actually going to give this a lower rating and then the final reveal is why I bumped it because honestly didn't see it coming at all.
I think the set up for Goode's character was really nice as well. It's nothing we haven't seen before. Tortured genius etc. But I like Goode's portrayal nonetheless, it helps that he has some of the most miserable eyes l've ever encountered Imao.
Seriously though, some of the character traits were touched by the acting Other than that, well shot, well acted, big fan of the music and as I said I really liked the twist. Good pilot will definitely be continuing this show.

The series is very good! I loved this Judy Blume Novel & it's really refreshing to see it told in a modern age perspective through the eyes of a Black young couple! Mara Brock Akil is an amazing screenwriter & producer. Her previous huge shows were Girlfriend's and Being Mary Jane so, I'm not surprised that this show is beautifully put together from the music, the wardrobes, the writing, the directing , the relatable dialogue and the references. I love to see this type of romance series that is has familiar characters and themes to my life and community!. We better get a season 2. Had me crying fr.
There must be something compelling about the end of the world, since nothing seems more popular in our entertainment these days than the brutal post-apocalypse.
Every major network and streaming service needs one.
HBO has The Last of Us. Apple TV+ has Silo. Netflix, to be fair, has a whole bunch, plucked from all over the world, but Argentinian series The Eternaut feels closest to the quintessential template of a prestige post-apocalypse. It's a character-focused slow-burn with striking visuals and very grim twists and turns, and like the shows above, it's based on something else - not a video game or a book, but a graphic novel, writer Héctor G. Oesterheld and illustrator Francisco Solano Lopez's 1957 one of the same name.
I haven't read that graphic novel, so i don't know about the show's closeness to it. Showrunner Bruno Stagnaro could have adapted it panel by panel for all I know, but it looks great either way. The chilling - literally! - story of a Buenos Aires in complete collapse seems very much made for TV though, interspersing it's slower, character-driven moments with splashes of action and last-minute swerves timed with a watchmaker's precision to keep binge-watchers on the hook.
