A great film from beginning to end, with excellent performances by Austin Butler and Matt Smith along with a superb supporting cast. The writing was also first class with every character well crafted and with depth. The plot twists and turns enough to keep you engaged but without losing you or becoming confused.
A well acted and we'll written thriller with a strong cast and good performances throughout. It play's on the fears of parents everywhere. The tension builds from the start and whilst it stretches credulity a little in places with maybe one too many plot twists the overall premise is sound. It would probably have benefited from being longer which is a rarity in these days of streaming and looking back at it in hindsight there are a few minor plot holes but nothing significant enough to spoil my enjoyment. Somewhat reminiscent of Harlan Coban but where as his work does have a habit of getting a bit preposterous this tended to stay just the right side of the line. Looking forward to the next Alex Dahl adaptation.
The End From Where We Start feels like a much more realistic and relatable take on the apocalypse and disaster movie genre.
Plausible plot, no crazy hero nonsense and the acting and script made it feel far more real and scarier in places for that reason.
Jodie Comer was excellent as always and she was backed up by decent performances from the supporting cast.
Slightly odd cameo from Benedict Cumberbatch but it's not ruinous for the film as a whole, just slightly out of place.
If you're looking for a traditional disaster movie you best look elsewhere but if you're after a well written, well acted and thoughtful evenings entertainment then you won't go far wrong with this film.
