Remember in the 90s where TV shows had like 22 episodes per season that so much happened and things that happened previously were seemingly forgotten about and had zero impact on the future? That's exactly what Fire Country is like. But in a time when we are served high quality series in a short span of episodes, this format doesn't work anymore. I've only completed one season and I won't be watching the rest. I don't know how many times the writers can serve us the same storyline - three seasons at least it would seem - but it becomes repetitive very quickly. The dialogue and the overacting is atrocious. And bad boy Bode always having to save the day without ever facing any real consequences is just laughable. If you're bed bound and just need some background noise then maybe this is ok, otherwise don't do it to yourself. Also I don't know if things work a little differently in the USA then they do here in Australia, but the amount of times these firefighters (who have basically zero training) are performing lifesaving medical procedures that paramedics wouldn't even try is laughable.
I want to like this so much! The colours. The original take. The star power. The campiness. But for whatever reason I just struggle to push through an episode and then find myself waiting weeks on end til there's nothing left to watch and then going back to it. I can't even explain why. I dunno if it's because the storytelling jumps back and forth, or because I'm truly struggling to understand who is human, who is a god, who is a half god, what are the furies???? Maybe it's the contrast of these age old stories being told in a modern setting - which is something I thought I loved about the show - but for whatever reason it's just too jarring and not clicking for me. Again, I really want to like this and I'm persevering, but with only a couple of episodes to Goni don't know if I'll ever get there.
