Adventure. Another continuation of the cartoon series about Shrek the green ogre and his friends and Fiona's wife from the royal family. And we watched this part with pleasure on TV as a child, and then it seemed to us quite good, and now we can safely confirm this. And here's a brief opinion - Such a continuation, which should have ended everything. Despite our nostalgia and the fact that we love this series, here we will look at both the pros and cons of this third part. And this should be the end of such an important introduction and move on to the interesting.
So, the pros: 1. Scenario - this time we will see the revenge of Prince Baskov (Chaming), who decided to seize the throne of the Faraway Kingdom by force, because just the old king died, and the place is a little vacant. In general, Shrek, who is about to become a father, was planned for this place, but he does not want to take on extra responsibility, so he goes in search of another contender for the throne who does not live up to expectations. Once again, we are waiting for fairy tales turned upside down, famous compositions, references to popular culture and a happy ending. They uncovered Baskov, who was a snot in the second part, but here he is, though an operetta, but an evil man who moves his brains. We've uncovered the villains of classic fairy tales quite well. The donkey with the Puss in Boots had some fun again.
2. Animation - and although it remained at the level of the second part, it would still be the height of ignorance on our part not to mention it, because both the artists and animators did a good job, especially noticeable in the high quality of the picture.
So, the cons: 1. Humor - there is practically no high-quality humor left, because there are only a few good jokes for the entire cartoon. But the rest of the humor is either stupidity or completely unfunny garbage, which takes away unnecessary moments from the timing that could have been disposed of more rationally. For the first time in the history of the series, I didn't really want to laugh here. The scriptwriters began to run out of steam, especially in terms of humor.
2. Music is either a light reworking of the main compositions of the original, or a kind of replacement of the compositions needed in each individual scene. In general, music is not saving the day here for the first time. Not to mention the atmosphere.
The finale makes it clear that this is where the creators should have stopped, if they couldn't after the first part. Shrek's story finally ended here. And they lived happily ever after. But after all, the thirst for money is unbearable, especially since the box office success was again, so the creators began to rivet the next part, which was bad in the scenario plan (sucked out of the finger), but we'll talk about it another time.
My score is 7 out of 10. As for the recommendation, see for yourself!

Adventure. A direct sequel to the first, revolutionary and masterpiece cartoon, which was reviewed quite recently (you can read it, you won't regret it). Since the box office success and the audience were on the face, therefore, the creators decided to continue the story that we enjoyed watching on TV as children, and now we have watched it with pleasure, actually for the sake of this review, and the result is somewhat saddening. And here's a brief opinion - A very good continuation of an excellent cartoon. Yes, we have nostalgia for the second part, but we will note both its pros and cons (which are also there). That's why we're finishing such an important introduction and moving on to the interesting ones.
So, the pros: 1. The cartoon script continues the story of the first part, in which, after Shrek and Fiona's honeymoon, they receive an invitation from Fiona's parents, the king and queen of a Faraway Kingdom, in which they ask to visit them and they, in turn, bless their daughter's marriage. Of course, upon arrival, everything goes wrong, because Shrek and the king clearly did not like each other. But that's half the trouble, because Shrek finds out the curious details of Fiona's past. We will see a real drama about love, and with its many sides and facets, because we have brought new characters, one Prince of the Basques (Chaming) and his Fairy godmother are worth a lot. It's a pity that there was only one drama, there were more in the first part, but still the local drama was revealed quite well, it's worth admitting. Add in the happy ending again, even more references to popular culture, sometimes funny jokes, and interesting dialogues that still remain at the same level, and you'll get a really good sequel. And don't forget that here again the fairy tales are reversed, although this is already being questioned in the second part, which is somewhat frustrating.
2. Animation - it got better. The movements of the characters are not ragged, no jambs were found when drawing objects, and this is with high image quality. If there were problems with this in the first part, then here they are eliminated, and it is clear that there were more views and it was much more difficult to draw and animate them. My respects to the artists and animators for such a difficult job.
3. Puss in boots - it's impossible not to mention this milakh separately, because here he is a supporting character, but the potential is already visible, which is realized in future individual projects about him personally. Moreover, he is voiced by Antonio Banderas in the original, and in the Russian dubbing by the equally famous Vsevolod Kuznetsov. And their bickering with the Donkey is a separate topic for conversation.
So, the cons: 1. Music - there are famous songs, but the rest are melancholy and sadness. There are no more compositions that set our hearts on fire and made us relive over and over again, as there were in the first part.
2. Secondary - to begin with, the continuation of this story was not required, because it is already being questioned here. But there's never a lot of money, right, creators? That's why you oversaturated the picture with passing moments and decided to show just one drama instead of going and creating another.
3. Skewing towards humor - more jokes, more awkward situations, more silly and unfunny moments. Less drama, less character disclosure, less great music. The humor only made references, which became more numerous and which are served perfectly, but there are problems with the rest.
You understand that already here, in the second part, the problems began that would eventually ruin the series. And if it's still watchable here, it's only going to get worse and worse.
But the box office success of the second part was even greater than the first, so after a few years the creators rolled out the next, already the third part, but we'll talk about it next time.
My score is 8 out of 10. As for the recommendation, see for yourself!

Adventure. A childhood cartoon, given by a beloved uncle on a videotape for his birthday and watched to the holes, also with a bonus after the finale in the form of a great music video for a great song. This is a memory of a distant and carefree childhood, which is gone, but cartoons like this one have become. We burst into tears from an unprecedented feeling of nostalgia when watching, because once again we were worried about familiar characters. It's worth a lot. And here's a brief opinion - A great cartoon that turned the history of animation around. Despite our unbridled love and nostalgia, we will look at both the pros and cons (many of which became noticeable at a more mature age). And this concludes this introduction and proceeds to the analysis.
So, the pros: 1. The script - it was revolutionary, and that's putting it mildly. Although the story itself is simple. Shrek, a lonely troll living in a swamp, needs to rescue Princess Fiona from the clutches of a fire-breathing dragon and bring her to the evil Lord Farquaad in exchange for evicting the fabulous refugees that Lord Farquaad himself drove to Shrek's swamp. Along the way, a very talkative Donkey gets involved with the hero, which becomes the beginning of an amazing friendship. There is a lot of humor, references to popular culture, witty dialogues, high-quality Russian dubbing, a lot of fabulous characters and much more. And of course, a happy ending, where without it.
2. Revolutionary - the fact is that the creators of this cartoon used to work for the Evil Corporation, and when they were kicked out of there, they decided to create their own studio with everything they were supposed to. And for this project, they decided to completely turn the world of classic fairy tales around, in which the Evil Corporation "ate a dog", and more than one. They completely shook up the basics of fairy tales, but they retained the most important thing - faith in goodness and love. After all, Shrek is a classic antihero who eventually becomes a hero. Princess Fiona is not just a spirited "lady in distress," but she can also punish offenders. The Evil Dragon is a lonely girl who also wants attention, and everyone wants to kill her just because she guards Princess Fiona. Etc. Here you can describe each character separately for a long time, but we don't have enough time for that. The creators left the ending classic, because you shouldn't break everything, especially if the happy ending works and is served perfectly (and in this case it is). It seems to us that this was the key to the success of this cartoon.
3. The music is excellent, the compositions chosen for the cartoon are just perfect here. After all, music also has a great effect on the atmosphere here. Moreover, both well-known compositions and music written entirely for the cartoon are good here.
So, the cons: 1. A picture - sometimes it looks pretty cheap, and this has become noticeable in the era of high-resolution images. It's hard to see such small things on a videotape, but you can't get away from it now. But we can forgive this, because the technology was not the same then as it is now, although the preparation of the cartoon took time.
2. Animation - sometimes it is quite ragged. Again, technology, and the studio has just tried its hand at new technology. It's not worth much scolding for this, but it's necessary to specify.
What can I say, this cartoon evokes genuine emotions and makes you worry about the characters over and over again, and the songs of the characters are also pleasing. It seems to me that even the creators of this masterpiece did not realize that their creation, based on hatred of their former place of work, would shoot, so much so that it would become a cult, and not just a cult, but a legend.
The cartoon has deservedly gained cult status and the love of millions and millions of people around the world, because it is a great love story that you watch with awe and breathlessness over and over again.
Of course, such success could not affect the box office, which was excellent, so the creators decided to make sequels, the further the worse, but we'll talk about them another time.
I really want to pretend that there were no sequels.
My rating is 10 out of 10 and a recommendation to watch!
