For some the games were the best part of season 1 for them this season was a disappointment, this season's tone was completely different, they added more humor, some of it felt well placed, some of it only made the show worse.
Now the problem that I mentioned in the title is the fact that modern television focuses more on only build up rather than giving us a full packaged season, since tv shows are shorter now with bigger budget, they are planned in advanced compared to tv 20 years ago, that has it's pros, the negative is that the seasons feel like stepping stones for something later, they are not complete season on it's own, say whatever you want on season 1, it felt like a complete season, this was maybe 70 percent, this trend started in some later dexter seasons, breaking bad season 3 and some others, The worst offender recently is House Of The Dragon season 2 though which after midway didn't know what to do, this is just that but to a very less extent. And the problem with this approach is the show loses momentum, if it starts from 0 again.
Other than this, the issue in this season's was inconsistent tone . About the final episode though, It's much better to do something new rather than doing the same formula again and again every season (*cough stranger things*), this show would've gotten repetitive, The cliffhanger is very anticlimactic and i can totally see why people would be disappointed by it, It's not showing us something opposite to what viewers were expecting, there just wasn't enough time to make expect something, However the rest of the episode was amazing, I hope show bounces back in season 3 which was filmed at the same time as season 2. However if the show keeps the momentum then we would not be talking about this cliffhanger, it is a very now problem.

This was definitely the best game in Squid Game yet-horrifying and everything that was great about Season 1: the dread, the hopelessness, and the betrayals. However, the emotional impact doesn't quite compare to Episode 6 of Season 1.
It's not a big surprise, though, because by now it's clear that Season 1 had much stronger storytelling. Part of that came from experiencing it for the first time & seeing far more level of desperation, fear, and helplessness.
Also The secondary plotline was solid until the you know who came. In this season, it feels like they're saying, "Whoops, wrong island again!"
The voting scene in this episode was amazing. Squid Game remains a masterpiece from a directional standpoint, but this season doesn't always maintain that quality. The drop in direction from episode to episode is noticeable. You'll see a home run in Episode 1, but then Episodes 4 and 5 fall behind. Still, it's an engaging show, largely because the main leads are some of the best in Korea.

Lost Season 2 Episode 1 is my favourite pilot of a 2nd season ever, but after watching this I'm not sure, this picks up just where we left, the show even after becoming mainstream didn't lose it's core tone (game of thrones threw it right of the window).
This has everything great about korean thrillers, and the final scene of this episode is a worthy spiritual successor of korean films like I saw the devil, Confession, Memories of murder, Oldboy(especially the final scene of the ep mirroring a scene in Oldboy where the protagonist meets the villain for the first time, ), Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. Handmaiden
Despite being so dark it's not completely nihilistic like some hollywood shows/movies are and it was filled with humor in the first act which I didn't expect. Picked up soon, Humor is not bad in a dreadful and serious show, it just shouldn't should collide in a darker scene. That dilutes the stakes and the tension starts to crash down.
A perfect return to squid game's brutal world, let's see if the season keeps its momentum. Because season 1 had its hurdles.
