This film started off great. The delivery with the cinematography and graphics keeps you wanting more and awake. Then about midway through the film, after a lot of buildup, the viewer gets sick of waiting for a conclusion. Once the cat is out of the bag there is way too much emphasis on the emotions of the abuser, not the victim. The abuser is not at all looked at in any depth. Instead, they get to say their piece repeatedly while everyone else in the film is sidestepped. Considering what a horrible person the abuser is, they got way too much sympathy from the director. It made me sick. I ended up not liking the movie about 80 percent of the way through. There was way too much emphasis on giving the psychopath a break. In the end, I still give it a 6.7. Almost an average film.
I have had to sit through this annoying crap because it is rated TVY7, my daughter watches it at age 9. However, the content is for teen and above. This is a great commentary on trash culture. Shows like this give Americans a bad name. It is exactly like the same nasty crap on Family Guy. The jokes are for 13 year olds. There are a few witty moments. Overall though 90 percent of the writing is told from the point of view of a preteen. It's sad that this is rated as a 9. I can't imagine ever being intoxicated (something I gave up) enough to enjoy this show. The plots are stupid and I hate it. Even though hate is a strong word.
I enjoyed watching this film. It was a little drawn out but had some good twists and great acting. I sat through it without turning it off. That is a win in my book! It was funny and sad. My favorite part of the film is about midway through, so make sure you watch that long so that you know what I'm talking about. There's a lot of underlying messages about class, fertility, womanhood, and manhood. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the color is amazing. They did a great job with the sound as well, especially in the scenes with anything bird related. Some of the wide-angle shots are stunning.
