Watched this on OTT due to a Basil Joseph hangover whose brilliance in recent times has been overwhelming..Basil can still wear half pants and pass off as a school boy character or a frustrated young man who vents it out in his trademark comic fashion. But he has a long way to go before essaying a cop's role, funny or otherwise. In a nutshell, the movie shone in parts but simply failed to engage after 1 hour..Basil, pls make up for this in your next one, I'll continue to swear by Malayalam movies with the likes of you around..5 stars for you and some of the funny characters in the toddy shop and the cinematography.
Short of words to describe this movie but let me attempt-
Pros:- 1) A simple story brilliantly told 2) Basil Joseph stamp of quality 3) Extremely powerful performances, led by Jagdish as never before. Among others, the tea seller kid with a 2 minute role was very funny. I rewinded his scenes .. 4) Almost pan Indian so that north Indian viewers can also watch 5) Comedy sequences - the DDLJ inspired train scene was a scream 6) Excellent cinematography
Cons: 1) Takes time to get going..I had initially switched off after the first 10 minutes, but went back to resume just by chance 2) Name confuses Google, for reading reviews I kept getting another movie called Family starring Vinay Fort 3) Would have been fun to have another 5 minutes for closure..eg. The younger brother settling scores, Jagdish and son reconciliation in particular
To summarise, this is good cinema and can be watched with family..

Watching this movie was a marathon session, half a day almost gone from the time we left home, watched the movie nearby and came home.. The basic premise is from K3G, where papa and son have a problem .. However in the older movie they solved problems diplomatically and weeping inconsolably, while here it's done with guns and knives..There's also a (cousin) brother who plays an evil contrast to the kind hearted sissy in the original version.
The movie belongs to Ranbir Kapoor.. Here's someone who looks good, and acts extremely well. The BGM, and massy template is excellent.. The post credit scene alone is worth half the price of the ticket..Overall, great entertainment ..
