This isn't everybody's cup of tea- and that's fair! I've never read the books, nor do I have an emotional attachment in keeping to the story... so

I really liked this.

I think I watched it a year after it came out? Binge watched it. The series has so many lovely things in it: a vivid, lived in world. Chemistry, and sideline relationships which are interesting, on top of the main relationships- enough complexity and drama to go around.

I loved this, period.

I don't think they'll ever pick it up again, as seen .... Three years later. But this will always be a 'guilty pleasure' of mine. Something I will rewatch. So so special.

I think this is one of those shows that are .... Controversial.

But I think controversial because: of racism.

Yeah.... That's it.

I do not have a degree in film, nor a movie critic's publishing history.... But I love movies. Film. Tv.

So often (writing this from 2025), we have an overproduction of media: social media, mass information (massive incorrect information, as well as warring ideologies).

With all that being said: I have never understood why this series gets so much criticism, because.... it is FUN... it is .... It's well done.

The acting is superb. The writing, the care in placing lore, and 'folk' horror... this is a beautiful series. Will forever be one of my favorite series. And ok ok-- no degree yeah- but I have good taste, ok? It comes from being obsessed with the medium.

Now, with all that being said: it is merely my opinion. But at least give this a chance- in the overproduction and nostalgia chasing projects... this series stands apart for its hero tropes, love for horror/magic/fiction... community... chosen family. ... it's worth the watch.
