With great expectations, I watched this movie. But it failed to create an effect of a psychological thriller. I feel, this is only a psychological film, showing the blind faith and trying to balance the opinion about blind faith without taking any sides. The story is not logical and has many flaws in it. In marathi there is not a single word as JaraNN, but in the context of witchcraft, the word JaraN-MaraN is used.

In spite of a good story and subject, the movie has failed to reach high standards. Except Aamir khan, everybody else has acted well in the movie. The direction is predictable and mixed so many issues that it has become a khichadi of many subjects. Gone are the days of simplicity with which, directors like Bimal Roy, Satyajeet Ray used to handle so many captivating stories. In modern times, the directions have a showy trend with artificial tingling of emotions. Quite unimpressive and not matching the standard of Aamir Khan's earlier movies.

In general, I have watched almost all the Hitchcock movies. But somehow, I missed this one, when I was young. But better late than never, I watched this movie after the age of 70 and still liked it very much. Being a true story, you get fully involved in this innocent man, who is arrested for no fault of his. The way, his family faces this unexpected ordeal is compulsive to watch. Henry Fonda has done a marvellous job and reminds us of all the great actors of the Hollywood in those days. All other characters have also done a splendid job. Such movies are not made in the present days. These movies cast a lasting spell on you and the effect lingers on for a long time. A must watch, I must say!
