If you see the list of well-known actors, some of them doing cameos appearing only for seconds, yet look at the result of this film, you may wonder what went wrong here. The answer is simple: When Jim Carrey is leading, then most likely things go south. He is known for his over acting and does it again here, Meryl Streep is giving an ironic self-study and all the rest also falls to pieces. This film is bad because it wants too much without achieving anything.

When I saw this is a German-Italian coproduction with participation of a German broadcasting station, I knew the result would be bad. And I was right. This film is completely unnecessary, we don't get to know the legend Callas, we cannot like or dislike her because we don't get thorough information about those last days of her life. Jolie's lip-synching is bad, nothing comes close to opera singing, the shape of her mouth is totally wrong and after a while I switched this whole mess off because I was bored to death.

I understand that shooting a film in Moscow has been tough and is impossible today. But why on earth is it so obvious that Budapest is replacing it? It would have been easy to hide that fact but the producers want every episode that takes place in Europe to show the landmarks of the city. So Moscow all of a sudden is a hilly city with the Hungarian parliament in full view, squares and cafes even I know as a visitor to Budapest. Sorry, but Europe is not the same everywhere, dear producers and I take such ignorance personally.
