I went into Happy Gilmore 2 with nearly zero expectations. It's a Netflix release starring Adam Sandler, two wild cards known for unpredictable results. Sometimes they surprise you. This time, they didn't.
Let's not sugarcoat it: Happy Gilmore 2 is straight trash. A chaotic, cameo-cluttered, tonally confused mess. The story lacks cohesion, bouncing from one forced gag to the next with no real sense of purpose. Yes, the original was silly, but it was funny silly. This? This was just ridiculous, and not in a good way.
The endless parade of cameos doesn't help. Instead of adding charm or nostalgia, they feel like distractions, cheap tricks to mask the lack of actual story or character development. It's like they were more focused on who they could get to show up than what they wanted to say.
To be fair, the only moments that land are the emotional beats between Happy and his family. Those few scenes offer a glimpse of something grounded, something real. But everything else? Pure noise.
Adam Sandler, if you're reading this: not everything needs a sequel. Sometimes it's okay to let a classic stand on its own. Please, for the love of comedy, stop digging up your old hits just to cash them in.

This experience felt like a punch in the throat. I laughed, I cheered, and I cried. This movie will stick with me for a long time. I suggest avoiding any trailers or reviews.
This show has been a wonderful find. It gives off HBO's The Leftovers vibes which is exactly the kind of content I eat up.
I honestly wish I discovered this show at the end if it's run because now I have to wait for it to come back. That said, I'm looking forward towards future consumption.
