You certainly don't need to be a genius to grasp the shortcomings of this series. Particularly with this being the premiere episode, it quickly feels akin to watching a children's show on Disney, complete with novice acting that might be excused as someone's first attempt.
Aren't there focus groups to sort these issues out beforehand?
No level of CGI can salvage this disappointing attempt at a Star Wars show.
I usually commit to watching at least the first three episodes of a new series to give it a fair shot, but in this case, I can definitively say I've lost all hope for its redemption.
It's like taking a bite of stale bread-no magic can make the rest palatable.
This is my review for "Star Wars: Acolyte."

There is not a single good thing about this episode other than the special effects. I feel bad for the SFX team.
Writring is bad and I mean bad bad. Cringy, unrealistic, predicatable feels like they hired an inexperienced child.
E.g.: "are you sure you should be leaving the ship during a red alert?" ... "Madame president are you questioning my decision?" "A question doesn't imply questioning"
A question DOES imply questioning, and in the army you would be reprementded for that. Such lines are very common and destroy the startrek universe, it feels like they are acting on giant toys going pew pew pew rather than managing a multi billion FTL spacecraft with thousands of crew. I mean come on.

Great setting but thats it.
Issues: way way way to much branding I get the idea but constantly mentioning it for no reason it felt like i was watching a perpetual ad, this killed any and all setting i mean filler for ads??? Come on!
Very very lazy research: 1.
Ask any child you ger than 12 or so to pretend like they are talking on a phone they dont use the same gesture as us. Pur gesture would not work in this setting.
2. miss use of ai. Systems in this setting would have much more autonomy than what you present, I think even just talking with someone in the industry will have made a huge difference.
Tldr: this is a visually ok flop.
