I was surprised to see this movie has a low average rating. I really enjoyed it. I have ADHD and usually find myself having to rewind a lot during movies because my mind wanders off, but that rarely happened while watching Beezel. It's found footage but it's *different,* and I appreciate the originality. Most of my predictions turned out wrong, in a good way. I like the way the writers throw us off about a third of the way through. Prepare yourself for some mildly cheesy special effects :) But I imagine this was low budget, like most indie horror movies. An excellent addition to the genre imho, and I will be eager to see new stuff from the filmmakers! The actors were great, too.
...especially if you're a woman. This is an exceptionally nuanced take on what it's like to be a woman in a society that does not grant them equal status. Plus, it's so fun, scary, and beautifully acted. Julia Garner gave me goosebumps so many times - especially during the last scene, which was my favorite. Dianne Wiest was also just perfect.
This is one I'm going to have to watch multiple times because of all the little ways it manages to comment on our current society by contrasting and comparing it to the era the movie takes place in.
While it definitely nods its head to classics like Rosemary's Baby and The Omen, it's still very fresh and unpredictable.
