Probably all series of this genre will be measured against Band of Brothers, this does Masters no favours as it's a shadow of BOB.
What I did learn is that the British or more accurately the English were actually at war with the USA. I had mistakenly believed the European war was the USA, British, Canadians etc fighting Nazi Germany. The series can't help itself to show the Brits, mainly the English at logger heads with the Americans. Now I'm sure there were issues between them but the series paints this as more important than the battle against Nazi Germany. It shows the antagonism but barely makes comment of the actual enemy, even when they are slaughtering downed US airmen.
Also learnt that the Brits carpet bombed and the US don't, they bombed specific military targets. So the Norden bombsite was that accurate??? Yeah, okay. Let's not even mention the fire bombing of Japanese cities and the atom bomb.
Some of the CGI is excellent and some not so good.
I did like the development of Bucky's character, super cocky at the start but worn down with the deaths of friends, he changes.
Crosby is also interesting and well played, obviously he has to speak some anti English lines and falls for a British girl, who obviously has to be Scottish.
Another classic was the secret radio in the prison hut, the report was that the British failed at Monte Cassino, (which they did, repeatedly and
that the allies, were bogged down at Anzio, not the Americans, the allies. Give it a rest people.
All in all, massively disappointing, I just don't feel it pays adequate homage to the sacrifice the USAAF and the rest of the allied airmen made.
I shall look forward to a Vietnam series that has the English fighting with the VietCong.
The best part of this was.....when it finished.

Wow, what a spectacular flop. I'm not knowledgeable enough to comment on the films historical accuracy but I'd bet it's far from accurate.
The CGI is poor.
The acting is comical at times and Phoenix, who I massively rate, fails completely in this movie. Now it's not completely his fault but when he's portraying the 24 year old Bonapart at the Siege of Toulon, he acts like a 60 year old and looks like one as well, which is amazing as he's only 50. He also seems to have decided to play the part in a similar vein as he did (brilliantly) the Joker.
There is zero character building and I'm none the wiser who or what the key characters in the film are about.
I've given the film 4/10, I think I've been generous at that.

I rate this film incredibly highly. Bale, Pike and Studi give top class performances. Bale is at his thoughtful and moody best whilst Pike gives a moving and emotional performance. Great film covering a difficult topic.
