Dexter: Resurrección
After the debacle of season eight and New Blood, the creator finally understood the assignment and figured out what not to do. Overall, it was a very good season, though it still couldn't top the absolute peak (season 4). In terms of villain ranking, Leon Prater is probably 7th or 8th-nothing special-and could've been even worse if it wasn't for Peter Dinklage and how great of an actor he is. Very, very excited for next season, and glad they didn't kill off Eric Stonestreet's Rupunzel. He seems like a villain who could give Dexter a run for his money. Overall, the second-best season.
I think Prater is going to cause serious damage to Dexter-maybe even kill someone close to him, similar to what the Trinity Killer did. It could be someone like Blessing or Batista, but definitely not Harrison. Since the writers are aiming to make the show great, it wouldn't be surprising if they tried to recreate the same kind of magic we saw in Season 4, which many consider the best. If Peter Dinklage as Prater, is going to end up being as one of television's greatest antagonists, right up there with John Lithgow's Trinity Killer in Dexter Season 4 and Giancarlo Esposito's Gus in Breaking Bad.
This time, the creators of Dexter don't seem to be going for a quick cash grab like they did with Dexter: New Blood. Instead, they appear committed to building a well-crafted series that can continue for many seasons. Michael C. Hall could even be in Emmy contention after this episode, along with Peter Dinklage. The mirror scene with Dexter's monologue, as well as his conversation with Prater, showcased outstanding acting. Meanwhile, Eric Stonestreet is undeniably a talented actor and a solid pick for the role of Rapunzel in this show. However, his performance still feels a bit like a parody of his Modern Family character, Cam. That might be because audiences are so used to seeing him in a comedic role for over a decade, which makes it somewhat strange to watch him play a serial killer.
