Ridiculous so-called plot, unbelieveable behaviour and a dull cliff-hanger of an ending. So many nonsequiturs and unexplained points. I felt like I was watching a distilled essence of all the modern cop shows, with various actors shaken over it like icing sugar. I do not believe that protection police officers just do as they please most of the time, nor do I think that intelligence officers would act like Nigel does, meeting DCI Nyles in person and running his own protection racket inside MI whatever. Siobhan Finneran is a great character actress and was very let down by all this parade of silly tropes and shoddy moody human interest scenes that were unconvincing. I began to wonder at one point if the writer had taken a large batch of cop show scripts, put them through a shredder and shoved some of the loose bits together to make it. Add in some very stilted scenes to move the plot forward, and it looks ramshackle and disjointed.
Gave up after less than half an hour as I could not make out a word Kristen Stewart was saying. An upper class English accent is not just an American one through gritted teeth. The characters were dull and the whole thing dragged. Why anyone watches this stuff is beyond me. Why would the royals permit the staff to be so bossy? If it had been me, that bunch of ex-military suckups would have booted out the door. I would not have bothered going there in the first place, as the family were so unpleasant. If she knew when she married Charles that his family were so awful, then she brought this on herself. Otherwise, I would have told the lot of them to sod off and gone off and lived wherever I pleased.
