The performances and writing in this episode were phenomenal. At times, it felt like you were watching a theatre production (in the best way possible). Paddy Considine really brought the tragic side out of Viserys this week, cementing himself as an almost Lear-ian patriarch, torn between opposing forces as he grapples with old age and mortality. The tension in the petition scene was up there with some of the most politically intriguing scenes in Game of Thrones. Also, It was good to see more nuanced sides to the characters of Alicent and Daemon. Fantastic setup for The Dance. Can't wait for next week. Hot take, but if the quality remains this consistent, I can easily see myself enjoying this show more than Game of Thrones. It is succinct and punchy, and the (much) smaller scale and cast of characters makes the dramatic moments have more of a weight to them. Kudos to the cast and casting agents, the cast has been flawless so far (with the exception of Mysaria and Daemon's ex-wife from the Vale). An extremely promising first season so far.
