I haven't read the book or watched the other versions of the 3 Body Problem. As a new watcher to the story, this show was annoying and strange. I couldn't connect with the characters as they developed.
So many good reviews of this show makes me believe I must be taking crazy pills because this is not leaving a good impression to me at all.
The special effects are good, the acting is ok, but there is an arrogance to this show that gives it an ora that it's better than it really is.
The biggest issue is that it is very unclear what everyone's motivation is. Why are they so invested in what they are doing? What are they afraid of? Are they just all bored??? As a new viewer to the whole story, this is all so unclear and was not enjoyable to follow.

I've endured many rushed Netflix movies over the past few years, but this one just takes the cake. The movies lacked any substance, had zero depth, and very lazy writing.
This movie was overloaded with modern clichès. I respect Brandy, but her acting was just terrible. (Sorry Brandy). Jason Biggs was.. meh. The jokes never quite landed for me. They were understood, but too predictable and heard many times before. Nothing original.
The product placement was junk food, which is quite fitting for what the film offered. I'd assume the only positive aspect of the film was that it was short. This means I didn't have to suffer for more than an hour and 20 minutes.

I have to be honest, I did not have very high hopes for this movie. At first it appeared like a forced family project Adam Sandler felt compelled to do. I'm an Adam Sandler fan, so this is the only reason why I gave this movie a chance.
In the first moments of the film, It was fully compatible with my expectations of being nauseating. Adam's character is your typical dad with the life sucked out of him by his needed family. He appears emotionally and financially drained. The one man in the movie with ALL the responsibility and ZERO authority. It was almost depressing.
When I had my first laughs, it kinda warmed me up and held my attention. This is where I started to feel this is a legit good comedy movie for all ages. Adam has his classic fun witty humor that played quite well with a teenage girly drama.
Throughout the rest of the film, it completely changed my impression of my initial thoughts. It was not bad at all and was quite enjoyable.
