The first 3 episodes are medicore at best, especially considering the quality I came to expect from the creators of the Halluva Boss series.
Ep. 4 is truly great: script, emotions, topics. Full Package. That's exactly what I were expecting from the show with this premise. I understand that a lot of things needed to be toned down to be streamed on the platform such as Prime, but here the show managed to show what it promised.
From episode 6 up it's a feast. Plot gets more coherent and relevant, characters are more fleshed out and the songs became better. And the plot twists!
I believe that the true highlight of the series are the guest characters: The Vs, Sera, Carmilla, Lucifer. It's a crime that we get so little of them.

The alternate version of the series. Undeniably upgraded, but still not good. Literally the only upside I see in this (sans animation) is that the main character sometimes act like 14-yo instead of how a full of complexes old guy would imagine normal 14-yo to act like.
This movie is a waste of talented animators, the plot is pitiful, the characters aspire to be one-dimensional and the jokes fell flat with a resounding crack and a splatter of blood (I wish). The visuals were stunning though, and the destruction of Paris by Hawkmoth was honestly on the highest level. The scene gave more emotion that everything the show managed to spat out of itself.

It's one of these series that lie to you. It starts very promising, with a serious topic, realistic characters and beautiful shots. And then by the fourth episode you realise that it's been 'based on books'. The approx. 30 years old professor becomes damsel in distress that falls at (almost) first sight in love with a vampire and totally forgets her own identity. And then there are few extremely awkward scenes in the ruins that were so painfully lifted up from the Twilight's fanfic written by a 12-year old. All in all our heroine after leaving Oxford transforms from being 30 to15. The true Fountain of Youth.
The only light side of this disaster is that I can feel that they respected the book's author. In episode 6 I just can see copy-paste at every scene.
6 episodes in, and I have not an inkling of an idea what the daemons are. And after scenes with Agatha and Sophie (?) I feel that the author has no idea either. Not even starting with this abstract scene where they teleport between cuts (scenes) when talking.
And to be fair I couldn't really accept Matthew Goode as an 'Irresistibly smoking hot male lead'. Personal preferences, but still...
