At the end of episode 2 I'm getting "Being John Malkovic" vibes. True episode 1 is mysterious and perhaps "boring" as some reviewers have opined; however it's the mystery and drive to understand that makes it interesting for me. I'm curious about the characters and the tech that makes severance possible. It's creepy but not beyond the realm of possibility. I find the orientation process, consequences for unacceptable behaviors, the outie life all of it is complicated, quirky dark humor. The voyeuristic interaction of Patricia Arquette's character is so good! I appreciate that I can't predict what's coming next too!
I really hope this isn't a series that draws me in like a tractor beam and doesn't get renewed to leave me "hanging." I tend to give a series at least 2 episodes to set the character study and get me interested. If it can't I tend to move on. Severance meets my criteria in episode 2 so I'm all in now.

Spends a lot of time asking questions and restating them, then summarizing them. Eventually presents biblical prophecies which are very appropriate for 2024 AD. The film presents good translations and applications of ancient Bible texts which may be helpful to people beginning to learn about end times prophecy. The gratuitous restating and opining keeps the timer count going but I found it frustrating.
For example the actor portrayal dialogue is then repeated by the narrator in an attempt to "set the stage" the video finally presents information 35 minutes into the 1 hr 40 minute film. The topic is important, getting it out to the public is a worthy endeavor but be prepared to fast forward through some redundant material.

I like a good character study. I give a show/movie 20 minutes to hold my attention. Charlie has me intrigued. I dig Adrien Brody's character as the foil. So far so good on the first episode. I plan on watching another episode so well done. I hope this isn't a series where the first season is well written but subsequent series suck because they change the writers. We shall see!
Natasha Lyonne's gravely voice-I dig it! So NOT mainstream. Well done casting director!!! I look forward to seeing other cast members story lines: Chloe Sevigny, Simon Helberg, John Ratzenberger, Benjamin Bratt, Ron P Perlman...comeon dude I see some great character actors and look forward to the journey.
