I've just watched the second series and know that I watched the first although I can't remember any if it. And now that the second series is finished, I can understand why.
I could critique the plot, the acting and the virtue signalling but what stands out the most here is the implausibility of the main character. That she has ever reached the rank of Inspector and put in charge of such a high profile team is beyond belief. She acts like a petulant teenager when she doesn't get her way, pouting, crying and generally throwing her toys out of the pram. She uses emotional blackmail on her love interest and ignores orders from her superior if she does not agree with decisions he makes. It is such a shame because I enjoy strong female leads but Piries' character flaws are stereotypical of perceptions that some men have about women put in positions of power and does them no favour at all.

I was put off by episode 1 - is that canned laughter? - but wanted to see the talented Bebe Neuwirth resurrect her character, Lilith.
Unfortunately, the series has not improved. Where is the love between the characters that was abundant in the original series? Why have the producers regressed from the smart, character driven, witty comedy of the original to the 70s style comedy where characters just throw one-liners at each other?
But worst of all is Nicholas Lyndhurst. He has one demeanour in all of the characters he plays and his acting is appalling. Who ever thought he would be a good foil for Kelsey Grammer?
I'll go back to reruns of the original series.
