Loved it! Such a brilliant movie full of cultural references and quintessentially British, feels intellectual in a way. Danny Boyle is a genius. Beautifully shot, kind of psichedelico, amazing soundtrack by the young fathers. I loved that it feels like in two parts the first more action oriented the second more emotional and with the final reference to Sevile which is to highlight the basic concept of the 28 movies which is that people are often more evil than zombies if they lose their humanity. Great performances by Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes and Alfie Williams they all hold the film together emotionally in contrast to Aron T Johnson's character. I can't wait to see the next chapters with Cillian Murphy's return.
Great movie! A horror movie that also makes me laugh and feel for the characters is just priceless. This is Cillian Murphy's first major movie and his endless talent is just so evident even back then. Such an incredibly shot movie it feels like glimpses from a nightmare. I'm glad that after more than 20 years is finally on streaming to watch. I watched it the first time at the BFI and this is my second viewing and honestly not only it holds but it's even better cause the story is gripping and the characters are so believable. Brendan Gleeson is magnificent he's in the movie for not long but he's such a great one and a character you care about! Great great movie! Can't wait for the sequel.
This short is a meaningful and deep piece of writing by the amazing Max Porter, interpreted by Oscar Winner (and you always know why watching his talent unfold) Cillian Murphy, beautifully shot by Aoife McArdle and scored by the experience music that only the incredible Aaron and Bryce Dessner can create. They shot it in London during covid at night and in a way you can feel the oppressive atmosphere. It's an apology, a love letter, a confession, a start point for a new life, a reflection on human nature. Its specificity makes it universal and applicable to all, it gets under your skin. Must watch!
