It's bad. Really bad. I don't know why I watched it, out of loyalty I suppose. Firstly, I have zero clue what the point of the black and Asian characters are. I'm not the only one to say so but their inclusion smacks of tokenism. Either invest in and develop the characters, or sack them off.
Actually you could say that ALL the characters. They rattle about in ridiculous short scenes, jumping from one random episode to another. There's zero substance to any of it.
Charlotte is a complete drip with zero sense. The actress can barely speak and no one seems to notice. What was that utter garbage with the zoom therapist in series 3 ep.10?!
Miranda has gone from high powered lawyer to nervous, irritating old woman.
Carrie is mildly engaging. That's all I've got. Every scene bounces around from one unrelated charade to another, as if all the pieces fell on the cutting room floor (where they should have stayed!) and were glued back together in the wrong order.
I can't believe they're still making it. Such a shame it doesn't work but it doesn't. That simple. Leave it be and give us something new.

This is exactly what I want from a BBC Christie adaptation, it's one of my favourites. It's 10 years old now so I'm not sure it counts as recent anymore but it's certainly a million miles removed from the 2023 dross they offered up in Murder is Easy - don't waste your time on that one!
And Then There Were None is apparently the most adapted story of AC's and you can see why. It's so clever, such compelling Characters, each with their own back story, some more likeable than others. This story really tests your perceptions and judgement and as with so many of her mysteries, keeps you guessing right up until the end.
Charles Dance is, as you would expect, excellent. So many other familiar faces in the cast too, Sam Neill, Aiden Turner, Anna Maxwell Martin, Burn Gorman, Miranda Richardson to name but a few; they're all amazing. And Maeve Dermody in arguably the lead role, is just brilliant.
This was a BBC Christmas offering originally and at the time got some stick for being so dark but I just love it. A stellar cast, wonderful performances, dark and moody story telling, it's perfect viewing for winter evenings. What more could you ask for. Enjoy.

I don't know how I missed this the first time around. I saw it on Chanel 5 rather than the BBC first showing. When it pinged up I just thought it would be a mediocre offering akin to the usual stuff C5 churn out. How wrong was I; this is so good. I love it. I have watched it a few times now - Christie is a bit of a Christmas tradition for me and this version is always on the list.
First of all this looks amazing. It doesn't feel low budget unlike some of the more recent BBC adaptations and is a joy to look at. Morven Christie is amazing as long suffering cook and maid of all work Kirsten. I think her performance stays with you long after the show is over. Bill Nighy is convincing as the patriarch and Anthony Boyle compelling as Jack Argyle.
This one keeps you guessing right to the end with some deliciously nasty twists. If you love a mystery, especially a period set one, I'm sure you'll love this.
