Ballerina is well-acted, but lacks believability - it's hard to accept a soft-looking woman taking down 3-4 grown men with her bare fists. Ana de Armas looks cute and composed, barely grazed by bullets while others get shot left, right, and center. It leans on typical action tropes, but it's all quite stylish. The background score works really well and adds to the atmosphere. Some obvious weak spots:
Story feels repetitive and easy to predict
Too similar to the John Wick formula
Lacks emotional or thematic depth
Characters - even the villain - feel flat
Ana's transformation into a killing machine feels unrealistic
Her size vs the enemies makes action scenes hard to believe
Hair, makeup, and outfits stay flawless despite chaos
Action is excessive - borderline absurd at times
Potential side plots and characters are underused
John Wick feels more like a cameo for fan service.

Ayalaan suffers from a bloated runtime and a repetitive storyline that quickly wears thin. While the film boasts some genuinely funny comedic moments and decent VFX, these positives are overshadowed by its numerous flaws. The narrative feels choppy, with scenes that jump around without proper connection, creating a jarring and disjointed viewing experience. Even a relatively simple film on alien, like Hrithik Roshan's Koi...Mil Gaya had a smoother, more coherent flow than this. By the midpoint, the film's dragging pace makes you desperately wish for the credits to roll. Ultimately, Ayalaan proves to be a tedious and underwhelming cinematic experience.
"Chaava" is a film that leaves an indelible impact. As you walk out of the theater, a sense of melancholy hits you, accompanied by the haunting question: why weren't we taught these powerful stories in our history books? Especially in CBSE curricula, there's such limited information about the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj and his lineage-an unfortunate gap in our collective education.
The performances are stellar, with both the protagonist and the antagonist, Aurangzeb, delivering brilliance in their roles. Their portrayal evokes raw emotion and keeps you hooked throughout. However, the inclusion of songs tends to disrupt the narrative's momentum. It's high time Indian cinema reconsidered the necessity of song-and-dance routines in every intense storytelling experience.
Despite this, "Chaava" is an extraordinary film-one that deserves to be celebrated for its storytelling and its ability to revive interest in forgotten chapters of history.
