The original themes of Star Trek have been lost in favour of a soap opera in space.

No - let's explore the crew's emotional instabilities and their interactions with each other instead because that hasn't been done before has it?
It's almost as though the people behind the scenes pulling the strings are having a bet with each other as to how far they can push this show towards absurdity and laughing their heads off at the same time.
Tune in next week when the captain suffers from constipation and has to negotiate a peace treaty between cows and pigs on Osprey 4.
I'll stick to the old stuff and forget this garbage ever existed.
